What was your first coral?

RIP birdsnest coral, my very first coral. I bought a 1" stick from my lfs and it took off. I still keep it around to remind me ATO's and reef controllers can save lots of grief.

My first coral when I set up my tank back in 2004 was the softy nano coral pack from live aquaria. Although my tank was 90 gallons, it was the cheapest pack they sold so I figured I would start with that in case I killed anything. If I remember correctly, it came with some ugly brown rhodactis mushrooms, some brown zoas with green centers, a toadstool leather coral, and a finger leather coral. The finger leather died within the first month if I remember correctly, just rotted away. The other 3 I had up until a little over a 2 years ago when I began transitioning from soft corals to SPS in my tank. Sold off all of the rock covered in soft corals. I do still have some of the zoas left, and possibly another mushroom or 2 hiding on the back side of my rock structure, but the toadstool is definitely gone. I sold it at around 16" in diameter. Do I regret it? kind of.

Here is a picture of it shortly after I transitioned from the 90g to a 4ft 120g

Pulsing Xenia. It took off and took over.

Im curious what first corals you all got. Do you still have the first coral you got in any of your tanks? My first corals were some ugly brown palys on some live rock I got. They colored up nicely and now have a green center which is nice.
Cabbage Coral. Very resilient. Survived numerous algae outbreaks. Eventually I gave it away as it was somewhat invasive.

It has been a bit over two decades for me though I want to say that the first coral purchase I made was a duo.
medium size colony of yellow Zoanthids and a large colony of Purple Colt coral which was nice to see swaying in the current and easily propagated though it was one of the toughest to get a hold of by hand due to the excessive slime / mucus.
In fact I havent seen any purple colt coral in the stores or hobby in some years now, at least not the variety I speak of as names have changed with time.
