What was your first coral?

Duncan, started with 6 heads 2 years ago and now it's grown out to 21 heads. My black clown fish loves it.

Green tip hammer. At one point I must've had 100+ heads in my 125. 3 feet of tank space was hammer coral. I've since brought it down to a singe 15 head colony.

I knew nothing about coral at all. I went to a fish club meeting and tossed a couple tickets in on the raffle. I won a Torch, Galaxia and palythoa. They were sitting in deli cups all closed up. Imagine my EXCITEMENT!!! the next day when they opened and were bright colors and tentacles blowing in the current. It was AWESOME!!!!! Fast forward several year, I work at a saltwater aquarium specialty store and am the president of that same said fish club, The Pittsburgh Marine Aquarium Society

A candy cane (caluastrea) coral. When I started I said I never would have coral. Well........many years later and a full blown reef addiction ensued. Lol. I no longer have my first coral, grew to fast but I still have the first montipora we bought years ago. Montipora spongodes, still going strong and making tons of frags.

lets put a clavularia discount frag in a bowl even though they said not to, lets bubble it and shine light on it, and see how long it lives. it lives a long time in hindsight.

They like a lot of flow . Mine didn't grow much but I moved it to more flow and light and it took off big time

My first coral was a mushroom in the tank I inherited 10yrs ago. It kept splitting and I got sick of it. I had no idea what it was and didn't really like the way it looked. I ended up gluing over three or four of them to place a stupid leather coral. Now 10yrs later I realize they were bounce mushrooms. I asked everyone at the time and no one knew what it was so I didn't think it was anything special. I regret that decision now and still have never seen bounces like these
