Just wondering what your very first coral and fish purchase was for your tank? Do you think it was a mistake or did you do your research before buying?

For me my first purchase for a fish was a lawnmower blenny and my first coral purchase was a green zoa colony. I did my research before buying but I rushed and bought too many corals before my tank was ready.

My first coral purchase was 1 red mushroom, 1 purple mushroom. Still got them...and their babies. I still like them, so no regrets. My first fish was a yasha hase goby and pistol shrimp pair. No regrets on that either. I love the goby, he's so cool! I lost the pistol shrimp when I moved though so i'll have to get the goby a new buddy.

Red Mushrooms and a pair of Ocellaris Clowns. I got the clowns when they were both about an inch. Almost 2.5 years later and Bonnie is fat! Clyde is almost 2" now and Bonnie is at least 3".

my first coral purchase was a kenya tree and my first fish purchase was an oce clownfish. love the fish but starting to hate the kenya tree it has went from 1 i know have 7

Oh wow, that was back in 1991/2, so I might be wrong. The first fish was most likely some sort damsel, want to say a blue one. The first coral that I recall would have been a mushroom. Not much research was done -- no internet :)

I dont remember what my first coral was as it was many years ago, however on my current tank it was an oc clown and the first coral was a frog spawn. Still have them both and going strong

A yellow tail damsel and I loved it!! Can't remember the coral! LOL!

First coral was a red favia and have no regrets. I think the first fish was a lawn mower blenny that I don't regret either.

Very first SW fish I ever bought was a single ocellaris clownfish that went into a 10 gallon tank. It is still alive with 3 others in my 210. Shortly after I bought the clown I made my first coral purchase from somebody on craigslist. There are some really awesome reefers in my area that love to help newbies, so he gave me 8 chunks of high end zoas for $40. I am not talking little frags either, these had 20+ polyps each.

My first fish purchase was a trio of blue green chromis. Have yet to make my first coral purchase. Did my research before buying the chromis, and will be doing my research before buying my coral so far no regrets.

first fish was a mandarin and a sohal tang, first corral was blue/purple shrooms didnt do any reaserch but should have **** petco but no regrets

My first fish was a bangaii cardinal. I got it to eat pretty quick, but it died about 3 months later. My first corals were a red millepora and a green millepora. The red is doing great, the green has lost most of its green color.

My first fish was actually a tiger goby that came in with my live rock -first purchase was a school of blue-green chromis and a kole tang. First coras were a green birdsnest and a torch. No regrets on those first purchases ..... regrets on about the 3rd that included some pulsing xenia!!!

I have not made that first purchase yet. Thinking about a couple of ocellaris clownfish and a hammer coral along with a starter cleaning crew.

Great responses everyone! Glad to see most everyone has no regrets. :)

My first fish years ago was a maroon clown, Im not positive but I think my first coral was either a rock of pink mushrooms or xenia. All in all they all worked well, the clown was hardy and the corals were begginer corals.

First fish were a pair of clowns, and the first coral was a pulsating xenia...didn't do any research on the xenia, but I should've tho cause they ended up spreading like wildfire.
