Hello,

So my parents asked me a rather odd and surprising question the other day. My dad who I adore and love dearly asked me, if I were to suddenly pass away what would I do with my tank. My immediate answer was well dad that’s one of my legacies and would love people to remember me by. I would give my whole tank to you because there is a part of me in it.

To my surprise my family was like oh heck no we want nothing to do with it. A few friends were like awwww yeah sorry nope, way to hard. So I’m curious as to what others have set up for their tanks if their time comes. The reason I ask is because I thought my parents would or some close friends and they were oh heck no. So would love to know what others have planned or if like me and have nothing set up as of well now.

I don’t currently have a plan. But I assume they would find a lfs to help or just call someone they know that is in to saltwater.

Sounds like a nice backup plan I just thought more loved ones would jump to the idea of keeping it going.

My sister's significant other got 40yrs in the slammer. His tank was sweet. Just about everything died before I knew he had a tank .it was saf

Oh eek not good, that’s almost as bad as passing away I just thought families would be thrilled to take over is all.

Lol you are so funny. Yea most people would see that as a giant burden. I wish they could see the beauty in it as much as we all do.

My mother is obsessed with my tank, she would probably end up taking care of it.

That’s awesome I have much envy of you lol. My niece and nephews love it and want it. But they are super young lol.

My friend’s mother added her 3 dogs to her will. Her kids have to work with a trustee who ensures the dogs are doing well lol

As far as my tank...I have a few friends who are reefers who would hopefully take the fish and coral...

never thought of it. Nobody in my family for sure lol

Hello,

I love the will idea and that they have to check in with a trustee etc. curious if you could do that with a tank. It has definitely put a perspective on material items for me. Specially when they said they would throw most of it away:(. Some things makes sense but others is heart breaking.

do they still pee in the sump? lol. im sorry, just that post had me crying of laughter

Lol hmm maybe if is said comes with two nephews who deposit treasures daily into said sump pump
oh man. Hey if it cheers ya up, ill tell my mother to take care of your tank too. haha.

With my last bit of strength I would type out my home address and phone number on here and offer my entire set up with the live stock to any Reefer willing to remove it all for free. It would be gone before my carcass was room temperature.

As and after thought, if I lingered longer I might request that the benefactor bring my wife a craft six pack or a nice bottle of wine...

She would like it that way.

Hello,

Wow great minds think alike. I was thinking of the same thing I know a few members who would love it and a close friend would also. Not sure how she would get the 240 tank there and all the live stuff there quickly, since she lives in Quebec. But almost seems like a better option or donate to the local aquarium.

They won’t take fish or coral. I’ve looked into it. Most places don’t have tons of extra qt space for donations. I was sad when I found that out :( Big fish are different, sharks, rays, even large angels “some”aquariums will accept.

It's not that they are not willing they don't know how. It's our knowledge and passion that they are missing.
