What would you do if you received these corals?

A little H2O2 on the plugs will take care of that no problem.

Huge pet peeve of mine, buying frags and they come with mountains of algae.

major seller (I expect better) or FB basement seller.
I'd be more aggravated with the breakage. poor packaging?

I cut the plug out everytime before i dip.

Usually bad stuff like eggs of different pests are in there so i never add someone elses frag plug in my tank no matter how good it looks.

That is what I ended up doing because I wasn’t sure of a better way to deal with it, but I felt bad doing so... especially regarding the corals that’s were encrusting the plug

Yeah. I wasn’t super happy. I’ve never received anything at this level before.

It is neither a major seller nor a basement seller. I definitely expected better based on all the info this person puts out there about how to successfully run a reef tank. First and last purchase for me.

I didn’t want to publicly call out the business because I’m not looking to hash it out, ya know? I just want to know what is best practice when this kind of thing happens (though I hope to not have it happen again...)

It's not out of line to share where you got them. Its helpful to the community and sometimes can help the vendor improve its processes.

Yes, I totally understand.
I just want to make sure I never buy from them.
But I get you not wanting to get in a big fight on here. Maybe this is not normal condition seller sends.

How much should be used?

I squirt straight h2o2 onto plugs over a bucket, have not had a problem with it. The algae takes a couple days to die.

Other than the obvious issues with algae and some broken peices how are these guys looking in the tank, or did you literally just get them? I'm on the fence on if you should share the source. I wouldn't appreciate receiving that in the mail...

i would just remove the frag from the plug and put it on a new plug or just mount directly into your tank. I recently made a purchase from a "very high end" vendor and all their frag plugs came with algae. I was very disappointed considering how high end their stuff is and the high end price i paid.

I appreciate your reluctance to name names on a public forum. I would definitely let the seller know of your dissatisfaction though.

Last week I received an order from a common vendor, the zoanthid plug had Apitasia as big as the zoanthids, this is unacceptable imo. The vendor will be contacted and I will give my honest review of the vendor if asked, and I will never order from them again but I am uncomfortable outing individuals on public forums.
