What would you do if you received these corals?

I squirt straight h2o2 onto plugs over a bucket, have not had a problem with it. The algae takes a couple days to die.

Other than the obvious issues with algae and some broken peices how are these guys looking in the tank, or did you literally just get them? I'm on the fence on if you should share the source. I wouldn't appreciate receiving that in the mail...

I did literally just get them today. However, the Stylophora is extending polyps already. The montipora digitata had a few polyps our but not many. The birds nest look the saddest but they were a bit beaten up on arrival so I think it will take some time for them to recover

I appreciate your reluctance to name names on a public forum. I would definitely let the seller know of your dissatisfaction though.

Last week I received an order from a common vendor, the zoanthid plug had Apitasia as big as the zoanthids, this is unacceptable imo. The vendor will be contacted and I will give my honest review of the vendor if asked, and I will never order from them again but I am uncomfortable outing individuals on public forums.

That’s exactly where I am at with my order as well. Sorry to hear you got a huge side of aiptasia with your order. I wouldn’t be happy either.

As long as the corals are alive and look good I would just cut the plug off and put them on new plugs. In retrospect you would think that the seller would have atleast scrubbed off the algae with a toothbrush.

I cut the plug out everytime before i dip.

Usually bad stuff like eggs of different pests are in there so i never add someone elses frag plug in my tank no matter how good it looks.

I am a newer reefer and have never felt comfortable removing frags from plugs. But now that I’m like a crawler instead of a newborn I’m gettin a lot bolder but still not removing every frag from every plug. Your comment makes me think it’s time for big girl panties cause I have had some problems come in n some frags from absolutely pristine systems. I’m probably a day late and a dollar (or $1000) short at this point!

I’ll be honest-usually the cheaper places come with algae. I get that lol I don’t mind elbow grease to compensate for money. I’ve done that with yourreef before. Bought a ton of great corals but I had a heck of a time eliminating the algae. Took my cuc a month or so in the frag tank

Just wondering- why does it matter if there's algae? It won't spread in your tank if you already aren't having algae problems, and you could just cut the frags off and Superglue them to rocks.

It can spread, really matters what kind but for 1example if it happens to be bryopsis it will spread and no cuc will eat it.

You're right about Bryopsis. It may be just me, but I prefer to cut the frag plugs off and glue straight to the rocks, leaving any algae behind.
