i like plumbing.. so if the new tank has a sump, I would tie it into the plumbing of that tank, drill this little tank for a 1/2" bulkhead to drain to the sump. Feed it off the return (slow flow) and fill it with the odds and ends you may not want in your display tank. and also softies and maybe some LPS. Hardly any added maintenance, plus very stable. I have a 5g i may do this with on my 40 breeder build..
