what wrasse for biocube 29

so id like to get a wrasse for my biocube, but what one ive heard 6 lines can be aggressive what about a 4 line or a 8 line?

Is your tank a fish only or is it a coral tank as well? What other inhabitants do you have in the tank?

What other fish are you thinking about putting in the future?

All of the above makes a big difference as to a recommendation.

its sps and lps tank i have currently a long nose hawkfish and a orange spotted goby and a brittle star and 2 emarld crabs and a cuc

really the only other fish im thinking about is a black storm clownfish and then a wrasse, I have a coral life skimmer and a santa monic .6 alage scrubber.

You should look into a johnsons fairy, theyre supposed to be a smaller wrasse. I wouldnt do a sixline causei hear they’re aggressive, although i’m not sure about a 4 or 8 line

A. FLASHER : McCoskers (they like to swim, ideally 3 ft)
B. FAIRY: Lubbock (same as above)
C. Pygmy : Pink Streaked
D. Possum : White or Yellow Banded

Forget the 4,6,8 Line Wrasses. With 4 fish you should be good. I say add Wrasse and then think about the Clownfish. But see if the last two are of any interest.

Not the Coris wrasse at all! peaceful as could be! Very helpful too, they pick at all the little pests. Also the only fish that seems to calm down my pink skunk bully assassin clown lol.

I would second the Possum. However depending on amount of rock and coral may be difficult to spot. Great fish though. 6 lines can be pretty aggressive but personally that isn't why I wouldn't add it to the tank. It is the tank size. The little fella's are swimmers and very actively hunting 24x7. This isn't any sort of police thing but after owning a pair of 29 gallon bio-cubes I never felt it was a swimmer friendly layout. Clowns, pajama cardinals, firefish, and gobies are what we stocked in ours. I just never felt I could get a layout correct with my rock and coral mixed with decent flow.

Of course having a pretty large rose bubble tip anoneme didn't help any But I like the possum wrasse - that could be a good option although I hear they can be a fish that hides or difficult to spot.

The only wrasses suitable for a 29g are the Pink Streak (Pseudocheilinops ataenia) or a Possum (Wetmorella) species.

Sixline, fourline, eightlines are all in the genus Pseudocheilinus. These have a tendency to get aggressive.

Fairy and flasher wrasses need more space than what is provied by a tank that small.

Possum and pink streak wrasses are the only species I would recommend for this size tank.
