The best answer I can offer is to find the salt that mixes closest to the parameters you are looking to maintain in your tank. The less you have to adjust water change water the better off you'll be in the end.

Same. I tried Fritz because my LFS sold it when i started back up a couple years ago. Didn't perform at all like I was used to.

I had started out using reef crystals. Everything did fine except for one montipora I had. I had everything else in the tank working and balanced and thriving so I switched to tropic marin because it was suggested here. The monti recovered and began to grow and I am now having to frag it to make room. After the tropic marin trouble a year ago or so I switched when I ran out to aquaforest because it was on sale and am still seeing the same success. I'm not saying reef crystals are bad or anything but for my set up the other two coincidentally went along with a period of improvement so for me I would say they're better.

I have used reef crystals for years and of course tried some others like Tropic Marin. From what I heard in the past WWC uses nothing but Fritz which I never tried. Never really bothered with the boutique stuff. I want at least 200g at a pop and reef crystals has always been a pretty good deal delivered free, 1-2 days, from Amazon.

I use what is easiest for me to get. Reef crystals is what I can find locally. Nobody carries the higher end salt. I oder from chewy because of the price but it's nice to know in an emergency I can get my hands on rc.

There is not best salt. No matter what someone on here tells you, your salt mix is not going to determine how well the tank does. They all get the job done. And ignore the "brown crud is impurities" bs. Its precipitation and this can happen with all salts in the right conditions. Some are just more likely to have precipitation due to the nature of having thing like higher alk, magneisum, and calcium. For someone new, go with a fast mixing, middle of the road parameters salt. Red Sea Salt or Red Sea Coral Pro are my favorites as they mix in a fe minutes, are not expensive, and are not extreme in their element parameters. I would go with coral pro salt if I were you as you get some buffering room for when you need to transition to dosing.

Well likely because of the problems they had with it and people lost trust. Even years ago, when I used it, they had a major manufacturing snafu that killed stuff. Heard the same from people here when they did the same around a year ago. Not to say the others have not done the same with quality issues at different times including IO.

I"ve tired just about all of them over the last decade but always go back to reef crystals. Low cost and qualtity seems just as good as any.

Instant Ocean Reef seems to be the standard everyone else measures against. it's like 450 calc 1350 mag i think. Chewy has it for like $56 a box.

AquaForest Reef Salt. Switched from Reef Crystals. A bit subjective maybe, but corals seem happier since switching.

Lots of good answers here. When I had a 400 gallon reef in my home office I used Instant Ocean because it was cost effective for 300 gallons of auto water change a month. My storage tank was 60 ft from the reef and I had to change my lines every 1-2 years due to the precipitate clogging them. I am putting a 185 reef in the same spot now, I'm going to use ESV (I've used in the past) as I know it won't require me to replace the AWC line

I think you need to icp every time you mix salt since the pandemic, if you really want to be sure. I have had bad batches of each major brand in the last 3 years.

What does everyone use for salt? And what would you recommend and with that do you have sensitive inverts in your tank like I do? I’d ideally want somewhere in the middle and with proven results even though I have a reef tank. Has anyone used Waterbox’s new salt?
