It looks nice man, thanks for sharing, what did you use to cover the top is it a netting or plastic see through cover ?
It’s an open top. My fish are free to go on extra-tank excursions if they wish. Their choice. Lol

GARF had some 55g setups back in the day, I found this page tht has a few pics

thank you, this was actually pretty interesting.

Interesting, maybe i missread but she uses tap water with just conditioner?

I have a 55 ga and I like it but it was very cheap second hand if I could go back in time I would have started with some thing a little deeper in demesion than 13 in how ever you can still have a ver nice aquascape if you plan well check mine out I think it's pretty nice

can i ask what your fish stock is, and how long can you keep the blue tang in ? hes really beautiful

I have the 2 black clowns ,the blue tang,Midas blenny, cardinal, and a blue mandarin , and many many inverts and snails
I've had the blue since I started the tank 9 months ago it was small maybe 1.5 in and it hasn't grown much at all maybe 2 in now.
should be able to keep her for a couple more years if the growth rate stays the same I really don't know but i think fish tend to grow to the tank size
I'm also looking to start another tank 150g + that will be an sps dom tank so she will prob migrate to the new tank if not im sure i can have a year or 2 more with her before i had to get rid her

i hope i keep myself satisfied with the 55g for a long time :P i like strange fish like green mandarin, filefish gobies. my 2 clowns. i love blennies :)

I remember looking at Sally Jo's 55 gal reef back in the early 2000s astonished that she was not only keeping but growing SPS under standard output fluorescent bulbs!

However, aquascaping wise, Sally Jo's tanks aren't what most reefers these days like, because GARFs /Sally Jo's had way too much rock piled in them. STD 55gal are really hard dimensions to work with.

lol i love just about all of them hense the second tank if I could i would have one of everything
I do take time when adding fish. I want more but I feel there more sensitive so I like to space introducing them atleast a couple months apart my next fish will prob be a small wraise or another tang like a yellow or maybe even one of the sort of reef safe angels

here's the gang minus the mandarin of courseshe's always hiding

I think I'll enjoy the 55g, my next choice...almost first was a 33 long. I find it so beautiful

I love my tank and a goid thing is it doesn't take a lot of space even tho it looks pretty big
however I sold recommend a bigger tank to newbie like a 75 or 90 almost the same footprint but more depth

Maybe im just lucky, got refunded and upgraded to a 75g 40$ cheaper :)

that's awesome congrats I'll think you'll really app the extra space

ordered one and waiting :) (48 x 13 x 20 in) Plan to do a t5 lighting odyssea, softy tank as low tech as possible. have a nuvo 20g, made many mistakes... the biggest being stop touching it so much ! lol. looking for inspiration
Your doing it right, take it slow. Thanks for sharing, comrade.

My fav 55g would be a 55g hexagon. I love hexagons. You can do neat aquascaping eith them due to thrm being so girthy. I have a 55g hexagon next to my bed. Its 25 inches front to back. 24 inches tall. And 30 inches long on each of the 6 star points. Not a fan of normal 55g 4ft tanks.. they are just regular tanks to me.

This is my 55g hex. Change video quality to 720p if youtube puts it at 240 automatically. Dont mind the tubing and bag i was experimenting eith some phosguard and the tube is a pump.. both are removed lol just not when i made this video awhile back
