What's the most you would ever pay for a fish?

What kind of fish would you spend larger bills on and what is the most you would be willing to pay?

Given that I met the proper specs for an Achilles Tang, I would be willing to spend upwards of $500 for one I new was eating for a long period of time and healthy. I have spent more than that combined with the few I had that did not live long.

At this point in time, $300-$600, not factoring in other variables. And that's only for substantial fish, like for FO tanks. Never for wrasses, etc. I'd drop 1K on a Chaetodon austriacus that eats pellets, though. :bigsmile:

Depending on the fish I would say around a stack I would not go much more then that but you never know i might see the one fish I got to have

I try not to go over $400 a fish, but there are a handful I'd pay $800-1000 for.

Most expensive fish I have now are a few at $250 each and a couple at $200.

Are you referring to a Formosa? My dad had one 20 years ago but I was too young to remember. I got a Japanese wood carved statue of one for Christmas though!

I try not to go over a $200.00 limit per fish. I have seen way too many things happen in our little boxes of ocean that are most of the time out of our control for me to justify spending much more. I have been pretty lucky over the years with very little fish loss, but my recent tank crash just knocked me into reality.
