What's the most you would ever pay for a fish?

I'd pay up to $1500 for a pair of rare wrasses such as rhomboids.
For a pair of Rhomboids?!?!? They're kinda rare, but they're certainly not that rare. A nice pair can be had for $400-500.

Well it depends on the species and long term survival rate in the aquarium. Anything much over $ 500 is getting out there price wise IMHO.

I paid $175 for my Achilles Tang. I got him to eat my hommade frozen food for over 3 years. Unfortunately he died from a pop-eye infection in a tank move. It sucked so I haven't spent that kind of cash on a fish since. I do want to find an affordable Chevron tang though.

Piad $400 for a Larger black Tang from a Local reefer..Most ive ever paid for a fish

As long as the money comes only from coral sales at frag swaps, I would say my only limit is how much I can save while resisting cheaper purchases.

I'm putting a $100 limit on myself since I'm just starting. One fish on my stock list is on live aquaria for $80 >.>

I just bought a pair of Rhomboids from PIA. They are coming in tomorrow. This will be my largest amount spent on a fish or pair anyways..

Poor fish.. Went to bed in Hawaii and are going to wake up in New Hampshire.. Talk about culture shock...

If I had the cash in hand, the most id drop on a fish is $400, McCullochi clownfish were $6,000 at first, and now they are $400 a fish, all fish will slowly drop in value over time. If I feel that a price on a fish is as low as its gonna get, then I might pull the trigger, has to be nice and healthy, fat, and from a good source.

I paid about $ 800 for a Rhinopias Scorpionfish several years ago. He started eating only live mollies. I got him weaned off that onto frozen silversides. He was doing great for about 2 years then one day mysteriously died. I haven't dropped that kind of dough on a fish since. My fiance would have my hide.

Clowns 101 MCullochis rock! They had a pair at a store in PA I frequent. They was 2800 for the pair.

I'd pay three fitty for the loch ness monster... But for a self proclaimed frugal man I'd go as high as $50 for a fish(you can't frag a fish and make your money back;).... I have however paid as much as 200+ for an acan colony.

When I started I said most I would spend would be $50, then I bought a few months later bought a Blue throat trigger for 60, then a large passer angel for $90, venustus angel for $85 (that made it 3 days :(), and now I'm considering a sohal for nearly $200.... but I have seen them coming in more frequently lately so I am hoping maybe they will start coming down more. Ideally I wouldn't spend over $100-150, but sometimes u just get that urge and need a new fish..... a hott new fish! lol
