Did you do anything to encourage it?

No but they were together in a previous tank 4 months ago. I thought they had forgotten each other. But they're still in love. :)

Same. Ocelaris clowns and a magnifica anemone. Having the natural host speeds things considerably. I think I actually heard the clowns go 'whooopee' as they darted into the anemone.

No no no. That's terrible! I'm sorry.

So I thought it was reasonable to try again, right? A fluke; it was dumb and swam into the anemone. Unpreventable and random.

The next day. I tried a 3” yellow tang, and then my 2” clown drags it right into the SAME friggin amemone. Tried to save it, but no luck. Down $100 at this point, so I give up- money and livestock lost, defeated.

Two years later, I add a small 2” scopa tang ($17.99 sale at liveaquaria) and it is living happily in the tank. Perhaps because it is not bright in coloration, the clownfish don’t mind.

Moral of the story? I have no idea. But I spent $120 and got a scopa tang

My tang swam immediately into my BTA and was swallowed- does that count?

Many years ago I went to a petco w/ only enough money for one clarki, and a sebae/crispa, and after bagging the clown going for the crispa another clarki swam straight into it's mouth!

The LFS employee said, well there you go, you got a freshly fed anemone.

I got in my car and drove home as fast as I could hoping the nem and clown would relax and let it go, and sure enough it did. That clarki was so jacked up, it was being digested and fins were really tattered, but it did survive and heal, and they took great care of that nem that I ended up keeping 5 and half years.

This, totally agree, and I've had the same but w/ percs and a mag, second my hand and nem hit water.
Natural host match makes all the difference.

That’s a heckuva story!!!!!

Eta @davocean : just out of curiousity, how long was it in the nem for? And what other symptoms of being eaten were there, besides tattered fins?
