Your tank appears newer and all zeros are concerning and an indicator that you are using an API kit by chance?ammonia 0
nitrite 0
nitrate 5
salinity 1.025
thats all i can test
i have 2 clown fish, 2 snails, long tentacle anemone that im bringing back to health and a goby...just this one black clown thats like fading color?
is it gonna spread to my other clown fish and goby? i have ich-x would that help or i can get general cure..so do i dip it and put it back in or should i seperate it to another tank?Your clown is swimming in the path of the powerhead because it is seeking relief from Brooklynella which is it showing.
Most similar symptomatically to Oodinum, this is also a parasite that primarily attacks the gills first. At the onset, fish may scrape up against objects, rapid respiration develops, and fish often gasp for air at the surface as the gills become clogged with mucus.
The most noticeable difference that sets Brooklynella apart from Oodinium is the heavy amount of slime that is produced by a fish that has contracted this parasite. As the disease progresses, a thick whitish mucus covers the body. This will usually start at the head and spread outward across the entire body. Skin lesions appear and it is not uncommon for signs of secondary bacterial infections to arise, such as redness and fin rot in which your fish is showing signs.
You will need to treat with a formalin based treament such as API general cure. If a formalin solution is not available for immediate use, temporary relief may be provided by giving fish a Freshwater dip in water same temperature as Tank. Even though this treatment will not cure the disease, it can help to remove some of the parasites, as well as reduce the amount of mucus in the gills to assist with respiration problems.
Typically a standard formalin solution is mixed with either fresh or saltwater in a separate treatment container. Initially, all fish are given a quick dip in the formalin at a higher concentration, followed by continued treatment in a prolonged bath of formalin at a lower concentration in a quarantine tank (QT). Of course, the longer the fish are exposed to the formalin treatment, the more effective it will be at eliminating this disease.

it was started jan 1st and i've had the clown fish 10 days now...i cycled with live sand, stone, a bottle of bio spiraback story, how old is tank, how long since added fish??
API is notorious for false readings hence the very low price for a test kit.
i had it tested by them prior to getting the fish, but they used the test strip things...i have no saltwater stores by..i have petco and that's it....i've used the API on my fresh water with no issues so i thought the salt one would be good too....i just fished that black clown fish out and now wondering what i should do? are my other 2 fish going to be okay? i might have some general cure on hand i got to see...i have ich-x if that helps any? or need to see what i need to track down on amazon to get it betterAPI is notorious for false readings hence the very low price for a test kit.
I would take a water sample to a trusted shop that does NOT use API kits and see what readings they come up with and to compare with yours
Test strips are even worse as are ammonia badges.i had it tested by them prior to getting the fish, but they used the test strip things...i have no saltwater stores by..i have petco and that's it....i've used the API on my fresh water with no issues so i thought the salt one would be good too....i just fished that black clown fish out and now wondering what i should do? are my other 2 fish going to be okay? i might have some general cure on hand i got to see...i have ich-x if that helps any? or need to see what i need to track down on amazon to get it better
i dont have an actual fish store thats the problem....the closest fish store is like 80 miles one wayTest strips are even worse as are ammonia badges.
Hanna and salifert kits are most reliable. Take sample to an actual Pet store- Not Petco who likely sold it with pre-existing conditions.
I would seriously look at ordering a reliable set of test kits.i dont have an actual fish store thats the problem....the closest fish store is like 80 miles one way
i will but in the meantime i just wanna get this guy better and not have anyone else in my tank get it...so im wondering what i should give it or what to go try to track down at petco or wait for amazon to deliver...I would seriously look at ordering a reliable set of test kits.
Often some are on here at good prices (marketplace) and BRS, Aqua Cave and Marine depoet also have them
Formalin is key right now to recoveryi will but in the meantime i just wanna get this guy better and not have anyone else in my tank get it...so im wondering what i should give it or what to go try to track down at petco or wait for amazon to deliver...
