What's wrong with my yellow tang?

Sorry I forgot to add that word...do they do better alone or in a pair

You can keep them singly or in pairs and they will be happy either way. Just know that in a pair, they will get more aggressive as they age since they like to defend their territory.

+1. I have personal experience with my A. ocellaris (false percs) which I got as tiny babies. They were all cute and nice at first and now a year or so later the female (the larger of the two) really attacks my hand when I'm in there. A friend of mine (slapshot on the forums) has a pair of maroon clowns which literally draw blood.

It's true but those a re maroon clowns and they are notorious for being excessively aggressive in comparison to other species of clownfish.

Wow! So much anger in the forum today. Dude, its totally fine to make mistakes in this hobby. Its not like any of these ppl have never made mistakes without research.

The tang police seem to always forget that juvenile fish need less room than adults, and that most tank size recommendations are based on adult size.
All fish would be happier and healthier in the wild...why is it so many people are so concerned about just the tangs?

Good points eventually I'm taking it to my local fish store in which, depending on how healthy the fish is will trade me for a smaller fish of the same kind.

People who don't understand why tangs are so much different than other fish seem to always forget that tangs need exponentially more space than just about every other fish, even as juveniles. Let's compare clownfish to tangs. Tangs have an average grazing range in the area of a couple square MILES. Clownfish have an average range in the area of a couple square feet around their anemone. Few fish in the aquarium trade cover as much area as tangs do per day. It's infinitely harder to replicate a range of miles in a confined box than it is to replicate a range of feet.

Believe me people I will do what I need to do for these fish when the time comes
