What's your absolute favorite skimmer?

I am happy with my AquaMaxx WS1. I have limited sump space so its small foot print was perfect, and it does a really good job.

Bashsea all the way I have tried many needle wheel skimmers and they just can't skim like a Beckett or downdraft skimmer can. If my pump fails I can use any pump.

Using any pump is also another benefit of the lifereef, I was torn between down draft or venturi. That is a nice looking skimmer.

Hey guys, what is your absolute FAVORITE skimmer on the market? Why do you love that one?

Let's get some posts going in here, and maybe we'll have a poll about the top choices to see which skimmer gets most votes for top pick!:D

That's the same that I have on my 45g cube !
(although the turn over rate is a tad,...much)

OMG is that thing for real [emoji15]! Wow [emoji50]

Mine has always been a 6 foot tall venturi and air stone combo DIY PVC one I built in the 90s. That thing would skim molasses out of the water.

There was no adjustment at all to it, it never leaked and the only maintenance was emptying the collection container, poking a skewer in the venturi once in a while and replacing 2 airstones once a month.

I ran over 700 gallons of water with it for about 10 years. Why I ever sold it, I will never know.

Second favorite was a counter current amiracle hang on That I modded to be able to run two stones and third is a heavily modified coralife SS65. It resembles it's original form but that's about it. LOL.

I am about to find out if a bubble magus curve 7 is good without modding it. :)

My favorite is my old reliable Euro Reef skimmer. It’s been in constant use for 14 years. I had to replace the needle wheel impeller once . Still making killer foam! My best investment so far and that’s saying a lot!

I have used a couple different Tunze skimmers on this 135g SPS tank... a 9010 and now a 9420 for the last 5 years or so. I am restricted by both footprint and even more so by height, and they have worked great, Filthy nasty dry skimmate! Super easy to clean the cup and nuck, as it all comes out in line one second withut pulling, twisting, tightening, loosening, or any other PITA tasks.

On my other tank, a 93g cube, I am not using a sump. So, a hang-on back model was required. And, after many HOB tanks, I have tried all the usual suspects and really haven't found one that was any good UNTIL getting this Reef Octopus Classic 100 HOB. It is a winner!
