I had a pair of Bellus Angels, a Borbonius Anthias and a Lineatus Wrasse die in quarantine (all in the same week) and an Electus mushroom get stung or melt somehow on me...

They used to go for more than that before they became common. I've seen them for $80 recently.

That stinks!! Yah i lost a choati leopard wrasse to a nasty yellow tang. The tang got removed immediatly.

The price fluctuations are ridiculous. I would be pretty peeved... especially since it didn’t take long for the prices to plummet. The same thing happened with white cap gobies. I’ve seen pairs for $200 these days, they used to be close to a thousand. Crazy.

Interest what the OPs LFS said.

I keep it under $50 because I don't want to feel burned when something dies in the transition to my tank. However with mail order there is more choice and I stick with $50 on a fish, plus the shipping.

Paid $400 on my Beach Bum monti from TSA. My pic, and TSA's WYSIWYG pic. Their pic is actually quite accurate for the color. I wasn't able to capture the pink rim.

I don't recall exactly, I got the fish for slightly over wholesale (my buddy owns a maintenance service) , so maybe $400-500 then I am pretty sure I paid $350-400 for the eclectus.
