Whelk ?

From the front end of snout from original pictures, these look more like feelers then eyes, the tail is not elongated with (what looks like feelers) like nassarius snail, no snout or eyes like a conch.
the shape of shell and short behind that's got me pushed more towards a whelk of some kind

I yanked out a whelk snail a couple of weeks ago. I noticed a week earlier an empty bumble bee snail shell on the sand. Then a week later it was caught red handed eating another bumble bee snail. It looked nothing like what you have and definitely not a turbo snail. Good luck.

Whelks (with the exception of Nassarius) tend not to go into the sand. If it's in the sand it's probably either a conch or Nassarius. It still might not hurt to sump it as others have recommended, just until you have verification that it's not a predatory
Probably. I wouldn't leave it in the tank with the high possibility of it being a predator.
I put it in a tank of water overnight and it didn’t touch the algae wafer but ate all of the mysis I put in
