I couldn’t find a Marine Betta anywhere so I finally committed to a leopard wrasse instead. My pretty new girl arrived yesterday.

Actually, no.....only because the LFS I use always knows what they have on order. They don't receive anything they don't ask for so they can tell me what is on the way prior to me buying anything

lol. I was about to comment that I bet 80% of the people won't understand Jebaited on this website.

And I was right.

Jebaited is a term that was coined from Online Video Gamers and it basically means you were "tricked or duped by someone, out smarted, pranked, etc" It's actually even not common for young adults to know this term. I know it from my nephews. (a deeper derivation on this is Baited which in MMO video games is when you intentionally have an opposing player make actions in an attempt to attack or engage in battle with you (in game) knowing that you have something up your sleeve like a fellow teammate or something nearby that will ultimately result in their death) just incase anyone really, really wanted to know hahaha.

Lastly I don't think your LFS intentionally Jebaited you bud haha I think it just happened.

I think this thread is more interesting over the term “jebaited” (even iPhone wasn’t having it) than the premise of LFS stock. But all I can say is, make good friends with the people that know the operation in your LFSs. They’ll usually give you a heads up and may even be able to do special orders.

The two LFS stores I use both have tried to locate a betta for months, unsuccessfully. I am tight with both and they are great, but a long drive from home!

Ironically the store closest to home I don’t use but I had dropped in to get live food for our new leopard wrasse. She was purchased and shipped interstate. Fish are hard to come by due to COVID messing up flight logistics.

I still can’t believe the day after we got the leopard that when I walked in the betta was at this store. I check their fish all the time on the odd chance - seriously what are the odds!
