I used to thread upon thread about all the great zoa collections. People talking about specific pieces, etc... but now it's like zoas aren't that desired anymore? I'm kind of going back into a bit of a zoa stage myself (probably bc it's all I can keep alive atm with my schedule), and I miss seeing all the discussions about different cool zoas people were collecting.

So where are the zoa lovers?

Right here. At this point your going to have to buy from hobbyists lol. The only “high end” my lfs sells is utter chaos. They’ve got two or three wild ones but nothing good. If I drive two hours I can get bam bams and pink zippers but that’s it. Planning on meeting with fellow reefer soon to get some more. I only have three zoas rn. The token eagle eyes, Green Bay packers? (I add a question mark cus one of them I put in higher light is way different) and and weird black one. Been interested in them since before starting the hobby just can’t find any.

Everything cycles. It is about time that the OG Z&P start to get some run, so if you have OG PPEs, then watch out. Probably a acan lord resurgence coming soon too.

Here’s mine not much yet on a ten gallon

Zoas are no where near faded out... im a frag swap vendor on the east coast, zoas by far are the most common coral offered and sold.

Does anyone have experience with Vietnam Zoanthid rocks? I just purchased about $900 worth and covered most of my available sand bed with them. Any specific best practices on PAR / spectrum / schedule for Vietnam Zoa rocks?

Mine grew too fast and took up all my real estate. That was a pretty big turn off for me.

Its my understanding Professional growers like WWC uses almost exclusively actinic 420-460nm light in the blue spectrum with lots of actinic PAR, reg waterchanges and 2-5ppm nitrates

Zoas need hard hitting blue light, element nutrients from WCs snd a little bit of NO3 to grow the zooanthellae algae inside their tissues

Correct me if im wrong @WWC

Zoas are the colors of the reef aquaria as they populate into colorful masses , but as a couple have mentioned - what is with the high/outrageous prices on some of the zoas out there?
In addition to people paying these prices and therefore they will sell at crazy prices, they are or at least once were the bread and butter of frag and reef collections.

Gotta give the rastas...some love

LOL Dennis. This now colony is something my wife purchased a few years ago. Started out with 7 polyps. Thankfully I've been able to keep them alive...knock on wood. This is only a portion of them now.
