Ive seen many on here recently stating they want a new tank for Christmas or Hoping to find a specific tank on sale for Christmas.
I see Holiday sales have begun but am now wondering, as in the past, Where are the tank sales?
I see pumps, filters, accessories and other goods on sale, but Few if any tanks.

Have others noticed the same and is there a tank you are hoping to see reduced for the Holidays to fill your wish list?

Waterbox started last Friday at 10-20% off. "Blue Friday". All I've seen so far. I'm waiting on algae scrubbers myself.

I look at offerup, r2r, and local fb pages for used tank sale, specifically ginormous acrylic tanks! ;)

IM has a decent sale on their larger tanks right now…essentially an additional 10% off their usual 40% off (which equates to a real word 14% discount form their “normal price” since the extra 10% is taken from the “regular” price and not the normally 40% discounted price)

Waterbox is running 10% off and if you can find one of the new “plus” packages that fit your needs the discounts are pretty solid. The problem is you’re locked into lights and equipment you may not be interested in.

Other than that I also haven’t seen much that interests me.

Im referring to vendor and holiday sales by sponsors. Not too many want a used tank for Christmas. Over the years there has been a few types of systems/ensembles for holiday sales.

SCAquariums typically has a pretty solid Black Friday sale on already reasonably priced tanks.

Anyone remember if waterbox did a sale on their reef lx series tanks? I was looking to maybe wait for their blue friday sale and get a 330.7 model.

There should be one 2nd -3rd week of September. Also check their website. There was one I believe in July

I bought mine on sale for around $1k off. I got it late January this year so I'm not really sure why they were on sale unless holidays sales were poor and they needed to move product. I bought from WB not a dealer.

Yes, and their warehouse is in 92029

Several years ago Current USA decided they wanted to start selling high end tanks to compete with the other companies. They did market research, came up with a design, hired a cabinetmaker to overbuild a stand considering the weight and requirements, and they built the system.

To eliminate any flex they put two load bearing vertical supports towards the middle of the cabinet instead of 1 like other brands of this size. The stand is entirely made of marine grade plywood skinned inside and out with waterproof laminate

The vertical supports reduce sump choices in the cabinet so they custom designed a 26g glass sump to fit the entire left section of the stand. They then custom designed a 9g acrylic ato system.

They tested this setup for 2 years in house and used it for marketing photos on their website in pictures for lights and pumps and other things

They then had 30 of them built with the intent to go to market selling them.

And then…they got bought out by saltwater aquarium.com who happens to be a vendor of tanks from the other brands. Saltwater aquarium.com didn’t want to carry another brand of tanks, nor compete with its existing brands they are partnered with

Sooo what’s the owner of current USA to do now that he has a warehouse of 30 of these tanks? Sell them directly to the public at or below cost, so people can get into the hobby or upgrade to a high end tank at an affordable price. They have no interest in profiting from them, they are good people and they want to give others the deal of a lifetime, and possibly gain some new CurrentUSA customers for other products

By the time I came in contact with the owner of Current USA they had 20 left. I bought mine and shared with the forum. They now have 7-8 of these left and I know of 2 people on the forum considering the setup

I have an owners thread / tank detials thread where we all discuss the setup and our filtration / equipment choices / customizations

Of course it's in So-cal, where else would it be. Lol man, if I could save that shipping cost it'd be hard to pass that up.

North to Southern Ca isn't that big of a deal. Driver, co-pilot and make it an easy day trip with breakfast, lunch, and a nice dinner. Or stay the night somewhere and hit up a local hot spot or two to make it worth the time.

Ok here’s a secret. If you contact them and say you are from the forum and in Cali, you can ask them for their best price shipped to <your address>

They have been known to offer a 10% discount for people that are close to them and cheaper to ship to

Perhaps I'm just making excuses. $300 shipped to my door is actually pretty reasonable. Figure half that in gas, I don't have a trailer or truck so I'd have to figure that out, all meals out, I'd probably break even. Stay a night, im definitely over $300. Lol
