Part of the reason there are fewer 10$ frags being sold by individuals is shipping and packing and the time almost makes it not worth it for 10$ frags. I have to take off work early to ship UPS and lose more money missing an hour of work than a few 10$ frags. I have a few things I sell for 10 dollars a frag if someone comes and picks them up. Also a lot of people are keeping things that cost them 100$ for a half an inch and that stuff you cant afford to sell for 10$ a frag.

i was in NY a few months ago. I didn't really have much time, but I tried to do a quick google search for LFS and didn't really pick anything up. Are there a lot of reefers in NYC?

I think alot of it has to do with packing and shipping the corals. I have recently sold a few pack @ 8 for $225. By the time you factor in the hour round trip to Fedex facility, shipping, shipping containers, plugs, and glue I really didn't make much. I just shipped out one of the packs yesterday and shipping alone was $62, the box I shipped in was $4.50, the containers I ship in ran about $2.40 for the 8 I used. By the time you factor all that in I made about $18 a frag. Mind you, that these frags are not the small frags you see sold some places. These frags are all multi-branch and almost mini colonies. So I consider $18 for an ORA or ATL coral a steal of a deal, especially considering the health and color of the corals and that some of these frags cost me $100+ for a 1/5 of the size I sell. My corals always arrive safe and rarely ever brown out due to the care I take in shipping.

I snapped some pictures of a shipment going out yesterday with my phone. As you can see I really spend the $ to ensure that the corals arrive alive and healthy. :D

I think the op is referring to local sales for $10 each.

I still see a lot of local listings asking for liveaquaria prices, and they wonder why there are no takers.
I do see some $10 micro frags (like 1/4" or less) :)

chalice prices i am not even going there ha ha ha you peolpe are crazy for spending $300 for an 1/2 jmo ha ha ha ha becuze people give it a silly name they charge alot of money for it i just hate the name game sunny i mit take you up on the frag offer thanks jeremy
I understand what you're saying The chalice prices are a prime example of that, lol. I have some corals left here: https://www.reef2reef.com/forums/f9/sps-coral-packs-sale-ora-atl-45670.html#post501547

Come to FL. I've got one store with 4 huge frag racks full of $10 frags. Anything from a few zoas (many different colors) to acros, montis, etc. Not just browns/greens.

Another store that is literally a mile from that store has a $10 bin, $5 bin, and sometimes even a 2 for $5.

A store literally a mile and a half from that store has 8 frag tanks with nothing but $10 pieces...

Come to FL...it's nice here and the oil hasn't hit shore yet :)

Where at man....I live in South Florida and i am always looking for more good LFSs
Thanks

Most stores got into the frag craze along with the rest of the people in the hobby. Some stores didn't and those stores really seem to be suffering. I personally wont do business with a store that doesn't offer a majority of aquacultured coral/fish. I bet that you'll end up generating a lot of business for the store owner now that they'll be selling frags.

I personally think that there are enough frags in this hobby that we can stop raping the reef for coral.

Maybe try a local reef club. I know members of the local club that quite often sell frags for cheap. I just gave away 15 frags for free to local reefers that wanted some. Good deals on frags are still out there you just have to look for them. Try to find a local club that supports the "DBTC" (Dont Break The Chain) concept of reefing.
