Where do you buy fish?

Here's an article on ich by University of Florida IFAS extension:
FA164/FA164: Cryptocaryon irritans Infections (Marine White Spot Disease) in Fish

Excerpt from the summary section:

"A number of factors determine how severe the disease and mortalities will be and the length of the parasite life cycle. These factors include the strain of Cryptocaryon, the temperature and salinity of the water, the species and age of the fish and their general immune status, previous exposure to the parasite, the number of infective parasites present, and the dissolved oxygen concentration of the water. The life cycle can last from 6–11 weeks, but an average parasite life cycle appears to be 1–2 weeks. However, because the time required until release of infective theronts after tomont formation varies so widely, prolonged treatment periods (3–6 weeks) are recommended. Longer treatment time may be necessary.
Treatments recommended in this publication for any given outbreak should provide significant mitigation of disease. Copper sulfate pentahydrate appears to be the most effective treatment to date. Chloroquine and salinity, as well as formalin, have also proven to have some effectiveness. If the Cryptocaryon strain affecting your fish is tolerant of low salinity, however, hyposalinity will not be an effective control. "

Wish us luck! Cheers!

Everyone has an opinion on Ich and some are really good and wise but some are horribly wrong! one of the best articles or posts I have ever seen on Marine Ich is on Reefsanctuary.com A second one but a little bit older one was written by Steven Pro, for Reef Keeping Magazine.

I do not agree with Netting them out and transferring them to a QT tank or Fresh water dipping either, as both these practices tend to really stress out a fish and can cause fish who had been healthy prior to Dipping or chased around a tank to end up with MI anyways.

As far as Corals needing to be dipped, neither Corals or Inverts are susceptible to MI in any way. At the very most all that they would require is a really good rinsing to knock anyprotomont's or tomites off of them.

And as for Tangs, some of the tangs are called Ich Magnets for a treason. A really good example of this is Powder Brown or Powder Blue, very had to keep healthy,

Thanks for the link!

As far as netting my fish... If I not needing to catch my Fiji Devils.I would of most likely just took my chances with the other three.

I had ich on 1 fish out of 53 total in my system and none of the others show ich. I wouldn't tear anything down or add too much stress trying to net them for a QT. I have never had a freshwater dip do anything. I know ich is one thing that scares most people but sometimes it is more trouble to try to treat it.

Six or eight years ago I had a tang that showed some ick spots for a couple of days and then he was fine. When I get fish I just float the bags for 15 minutes to allow the temp to equalize and dump them in.

I wonder if stressing fish in a confined quarantine tank and them moving them to a different tank might actually cause ick.

My butterfly is doing well now after a ich break out look bottom line is that there are a lot of things out there on ichbit is a terrible parisite inbthis hobby however the people on this forum are right there are a million possible ways to go about it u dont have to pull fish from dt but for future I would always have a quarantine tank up and let the fish buy chill in there for a 3 to 4 week period think of it this way as humans we always carry parisites bacteria things of this nature but it is only when we pish are selves to hard like working a 14 hr shift or something like that when the viruse bug whatever decides you are tired weak and venerable it atacts and you become sick with in a 2 week period so if the fish has any thing wrong with it it will shiw in the first two weeks
