Hey, I was wondering where to ordered my fish from? I just started a saltwater tank a couple months and have 12 crabs, a shrimp, and a polyp that have been doing great; however, I have already went through 8 chromis. I ordered 3 first and two died within three days and then I ordered 5 and all 5 and the one surviver died within 3-4 days (3 died within 24hours). My chemistry in my tank is dead on and temperature and salinity are great. Is there something else I might need to check out? Thanks for all the help!

How Are you monitoring ammonia levels with the fish additions?
Ammonia is a big one to watch with first fish additions.
They can also succumb to disease, what was their behavior? Eating, hiding, flashing against rocks, increased breathing?
Any noticeable spots or lesions?
Vendors can make a difference but since it's a newer tank I'd suggest some trouble shooting on what was going on with the fish you lost. Diseases can contaminate the display and you would need to wait before adding more fish

It is going to happen in the beginning, I went through a few chromis also when I first started up the tank. From experience I have ordered online from Liveaquaria and they are really good about the replacement policy, I also buy from my LFS which is @WWC. I just noticed I messed the title up but, cmcoker- I have a saltwater test kit from API that I test pH, Ammonia, Nitrite, and Nitrate. I test it ever so often and right after my fish died and everything checked out great with no Ammonia. I set up a 60 gallon tank.
jsker- is that just something that happens do to the tank needing to set up better? Should I run it a while without fish to try and get it more established before adding fish? And thank you I'll have to check those two places out.

Liveaquaria is great because of the warranty. Petsolutions has the same warranty and $99 free shipping but I never ordered from there....

Yes, one thing is take your time, with everything. Right after the chromis kick it. I drop in two clowns and they went for about 10 months until I messed up with trying to adjust my Po4's. Keep a log of what you are doing (again make changes slow. one thing at a time) note your triumphs and you failures. Get yourself a good test kit and test a lot, and there is some great advice on this blog.
The first thing everyone is going to ask is what is your parameters meaning Mg, Ca, Alk, Po4, No3, Salinity.

It is bacteria in a bottle....it will help convert ammonia into nitrite, nitrate.....if that's not an issue, it won't do much for you.
