I beg to differ. @Hunterwes need to test to see where they are at. Once one establishes were there are at, then then can go form there. Now if you have your tank set for a year or longer, it should be pretty well established and then one can wing it. I started with Salifert test kits and switched over to Red Sea. I like the Red Sea kits for the reason they are simpler and faster. If you don't have corals right now you don't need those tests yet
Can you post a pic of the tank?
Yes I float the bag in the top of my tank and add a half of a cup of water to the water already in the bag every 20 min and then empty all the water in a spare bucket then add them to my aquarium by submerging the bag horizontally in the aquarium and let them swim out at there own paceAre you acclimating the fish?
Yes; however, the closest store looks pretty rough on there up keeping of fish so I never have tried them. They get there fish from live aquaria. The other store is about an hour away and I have done all my business there so far and I really am satisfied with the up keeping of fish there; however, that's were my 8 fish that died came from. 3 I was able to get from inside the store, the other 5 I had to order and I think shipping them to the store and then me having to go get them and drive another hour back home before starting to get them in my tank just causes more stress then they could handle. That store orders from sunpetDo you have a LFS? I would suggest getting your first fish from them if you do. Sometimes the stress of shipping then going into a new tank is just too much for the little guys. My tank is fairly established I ordered 3 blue reef chromis from live aquaria. First time all 3 arrived dead, they sent out 3 more and 2 made it great and are thriving but the third died about 3 days after getting him. Live aquaria was great about replacing them but the heartache I felt about killing 4 fish to get two was a bit much for me so I will only get fish from LFS now. I have yet to kill one of those.
4 were blue reef chromis and 4 were green chromis. The blue reef that were shipped in that I had to pick up looked pretty rough when I got them home almost like a glazed donut and the water that all 5 were shipped in look awful. Looked very dengue and had medium size particle floating around in themYes; however, the closest store looks pretty rough on there up keeping of fish so I never have tried them. I'm wanting to add a lot more to it. I'm just having to mange my budget right now. I would love to have more rocks. I have I would estimate 30 to 40 lbs of rock right nowNice!
That's what I'm thinking. I was reimbursed for two of the three that died within 24 hours cause I couldn't find the third one in time. So I figured I might just try ordering from another place and see how they look when they come in. Plus they would come straight to my door instead of going to the store then me going to pick them upYou likely just got bad fish......
That sounds like it would be a good place to try my next order and see how they turn out. ThanksAll the fish and inverts I have bought from blue zoo arived alive and are still going strong they even provide a acclimation kit and instructions.
