You can wait. If you turn them on too soon you may have an algae problem. I would leave them off for now.

Without a protein skimmer, water changes will be your best friend. How large is your tank?

I have a 39g bowfront. It's a great size to start with. You have at least 6 weeks before you start stocking, so start saving! Read the thread (I know, it's alot) about the cycle. Sit back and save some $$ while you wait.

Thanks but I'm not looking to rush that's what I want to do is take my time with my tank. Rushing things cause for problems on top of problems that I don't want. Also I haven't decided what I would put into the tank as for as fish and corals. But all the same it's good to know tho
