Which pink sand?

OK, I'm pleased. The Live sand is actually wet, just well sealed.

This is what the package says the Dry Samoa Pink sand will look like:

This is what it actually looks like. Sorry for the picture quality, cell phone pic, through a magnifier. It's on a white plate, so the white balance is pretty close.

And this is what the Live/wet looks like:

So, neither are anywhere near as pink as the retail pictures would lead you to believe.
Both seem to have a dun, pale tan base color, with very occasional pink flakes. The dry seems to have more pink flakes that the Bio Active Live. I should have water in my tank within a couple weeks, and I'll make sure to get some good shots of the sand in the tank, under aquarium lighting.

I'm building a WB Marine 70.3, with around 2 inches of sand in the display, 60# of BioActive Live Somoa Pink, 10# dry Somoa Pink, and 10# of Florida Keys Crushed Coral.

While researching my tank, I tried to collect images of all the different sands available.

I'm getting a 100mm macro lens for my camera soon, mostly for the aquarium, I think I will try to make a project out of getting good, high quality pictures of all the sand types and post them as a resource.

Looking closely at it, by eye they look to have about the same grain sizes. The wet, being wet, is clumpier.

I've found and bought 9kg of Samoa Pink #1 (1.2 1.7mm). If I like it, i'll buy a second bag.
But it's impossible to find the bigger one.

Sure, if they send me the right one.
It's the fourth sand that i buy and everytime is wrong or different ftom the producer website

But it should be a little bit bigger than your live sand

Coukd you please remember me which Sand you used to mix the Samoa Pink?

The Bimini Pink sand is still in transit, so I don't have a pic for you.

I find it puzzling that people expect pure white sand. I have been to meny "white sand" beaches. If you have any white object and put it on the sand you'll quickly notice that the sand is actually kind of tan/bone white in color.
Now, the pink particles are more of an afterthought. It's never as pink as in the marketing pictures.
At least that has been my experience.

It's never as pink as you want...just light hues/shades of pink. Blue light doesn't change it to a brighter pink, I find it is quite balanced with multiple colour fragments. I use Caribsea pink Fiji.
