Hello guys need to change my return pump, going from mag12 to either Various 8 or Syncra sdc 9.0 wifi or vectra L2 or M2. Which has better control, and better in general. I am also going bigger because i am hooking up a frag tank to the same sump and also have a separate refugium so i was going to run this pump with 3 splliter and ball valves and also tight on space. Any other commendation will consider please provide why.

Thanks

I had bad experience with vectra. The pump perform poorly under typical head pressure.
Ended up getting red dragon 80 watt. Gave me double the flow rate on the same plumbing.
The red dragon was i believe less than 200$ more than vectra..
I went up vectra originally thinking am saving 200$ I realized I wasted 500$ :(

Plus I need bigger pump to supports my frag tank my refugium and the main display, all are seperate.

I run my Vectra M1 at less then 50% for over a yr with no issues.
Hmm define issue.
What flow rate you getting with the 50% power?

My issue is seeking specific flow rate. My system is 160g, so I wanted 10 times return which is 1600gph. I thought vectra would give me that it did not...
So it was running indeed..I could have also have dial it to 50% it would still be running and showing green LEDs. But that was not what I paid for..

Issues meaning no problems with flow, I have never measured exact flow but it's more then 3/400gph.

I own the sicce return pump but the 7.0 and I would stay away. I had it hooked to WiFi for a while but had to remove it. If the power went out then came back on, the pump wouldn't restart unless I went into the app and told it to restart. If I'm not home and I didn't know the power went out the pump would be off until I discovered it.
Now that it isn't hooked to WiFi it restarts every 9 out of 10 times the power goes out which still is not good. It is not apex ready either so if you have apex the only thing you can do is monitor the flow to see if it's running. I have an abyzz on order to take it's place.

Got it.
Well I also thought my flow was good. Until I actually measured.
If it's working for you carry on.
To me the bad flow triggered issues in my filtration system cause I had a powerful skimmer that was underperforming g for a year. All this time I thought it was the skimmer fault. Until I realized that my return flow rate was lower than my skimmer intake rate. Si my skimmer was basically over skimming the same watering the sump.

Once I corrected the flow by red dragon. Skimmer is rocking it now..

I am on my 3rd impeller. The bottom where the impeller sits seems worn out and starting wobble causing failure. This mag12 is 12 years old.
When I first got into reef tanks I ran Mag pumps and found they were like having an additional heater in the tank. :)

The Red Dragon is on another level as is the Abyzz pump. If you are trying to run a couple of systems on one pump you would be better served getting either of them.
The others are fine for single systems but with the piping you are wanting to to you need something that will handle the back pressure that the piping with place on the pump.

+1 for ted dragon. Amazing pump.

I have a Sicce SDC 9.0 sitting on the shelf. Used for a short time, got a deal on a RD pump.
Yours for $200 + shipping from 11764.
This is the wife model you ttalking about for 200$. How old is it? Still under warranty?

I’ve ran 2 Sicce SDC 9.0’s from the day they have came out and have not had a single issue. Mine has been dead silent and never a WiFi issue even with a power outage. Both are plugged into my Apex so if a issue did arise I would get an alert.
