Which skimmer do you run

Bubble Magus NAC5e hob on my 72 gallon. So far been happy with this skimmer it is super quiet. Biggest issue is when doing water changes if water gets too low have to go through the juggling act of repriming having an extra hand would help :D

ATB Elegance Pro, but I am looking for something new. :)

Octopus nwb-110 on my 50g display and an octopus nw-110 on my 40g frag system. I'm a big fan of the octopus skimmers thinking about upgrading the pump on my nwb-110 to the hy-1000s.

I do not have a tank at the moment but all of the commercial set ups I am involved in use R2K, they are reliable (huge) and some of the self cleaning heads are awesome. That said when I had my own mini commercial set up in my garage I employed a MRC skimmer which is the same basic contraction of R2K but they offer more custom options with their models. I still have a 4 foot recirculating model and I would use it again without a second guess if I had the opportunity.

The bubble blaster pumps do look very nice, heard mixed reviews on noise levels but as far as performance goes they seem to be beasts. Here's a few I've tried
-bubble magus 3.5/ worked ok but cheap pump
-swc 230 when I had my bigger tank/ absolute beast of a skimmer
-euroreef 135/ great skimmer but a little noisy
-reef octopus extreme 200/ solid performer but hated being turned off and starte again
-got an ATB 840 v2 for the new build, so far seems awesome from testing in bucket so we will see how it performs on the soon to be 92 gallon rimless heavily stocked!

CPR BakPak2 on JBJ 24g. Only bought it because it was a killer deal, but a good skimmer non the less.

ASM G4. Set it and forget it. Well almost. You have to clean the cup once a week. I have tried MANY other skimmers before and since but I went back to the ASM and I will never use anything else again.

ASM G3. I love this thing!! :) easy to use no problems so far.

And it's cheap for what they are rated for. My ASM G3 is rated for 250 gallons and it was $289.

I will be up grading but currently my Bubble King mini 180 is running on my forty breeder! This thing is constantly producing skim: I have had to increase my cleaning schedule from three to four days to every other day.

Great Skimmer which is super quiet !

I'm running an old octopus skimmer on my 120. Skimmer has been used on a 40 gal frag tank that was holding my corals while the 120 is getting setup and worked pretty well. We'll see how well it works once this tank gets running with fish and corals. I think it'll be pretty nice and think Octopus makes some killer skimmers.

Running a Reeflo Orca 250 Pro on the 400 gal frag setup. Love this skimmer as I can feed as much as I want and not have a problem.

About to hook up a Reeflo Orca 200 Pro on a 425 display. I think this skimmer is going to work out perfect for this setup.

I've thought about switching the Orca skimmers, but due to size restrains I can't.

ATB Elegance Pro, but I am looking for something new. :)

Hi revhtree,

May I ask why? I just ordered the elegance pro 200 for my 120(Heavy Bioload) to replace my ATI BM200. Do you have any tip in setting it up? If I remember it right you had some overflowing trouble when you first set it up. Thanks in advance!

Mark

Reef octopus good skimmer. AquaC. As long as the depth is correct I think it's a better skimmer.

....... I'm Matt n i have a reef obsession.
