White Bugs on Acopora

if you put it on 2160 p quality. you can see it move quickly on the base of purple acro in the middle. starts at 3 Sec

Yeah those are pods. Harmless in my experience. I use flatworm stop to keep any bugs away from my sticks and it works so far!

what do you recommend?
I have a 90 gallon display and I have a 40 gallon (qt/holding tank)
I added a bali slimer to the 90 gallon a couple days ago and I just placed it back to the 40 gallon an hour after writing this reply.
I do not have any acro in the 90 gallon, so im guessing will they starve out and how long?
In my holding tank should I dip? or get the interceptor? I found in Canapetcare they sell them without prescription? Should I probably just do a whole tank treatment for the 40 gallon If i get a hold of the interceptor? I dont have any inverts in the 40 gallon.

I don’t know if they will starve with no acros around but I would just treat both tanks 3 times a week apart.

Vid isn't good enough to really see anything

Milbemycin oxime is your answer if they are on the flesh of the acros, benign pods wont be crawling on the tissue

Im still waiting for the vet to call back so she can prescribe interceptor. Can i use bayer thou? Or that is more risky for smooth skin acro? I can tell they are irritating the coral as the coral doesnt have mich polyp extention that are infected. The white bugs are on the acro flesh.

Im uploading a video on youtube on a little closer look and longer length

Bayer is iffy with smoothies like loripes, granulosa, carolininana, surashoni but I have noticed its esp risky with bottlebrush types like subglabra, carduus, horrida, awi, echinata etc etc.

If in the right concentration it will at least reduce numbers/ provide temp relief but you wont fix the problem dipping individual corals.

There is some peer reviewed published papers/ documentation on the use of Interceptor/ milbemycin oxime against parasitic copepods on cnidarians in institutional / public aquarium applications that would be an asset to provide the vet in trying to aquire Interceptor from a vet to treat a reef tank.
They generally wont give a hoot about stuff from a reef aquarium forum / article.
But if its from a scholarity/ published source it may provide a better, more legitimate viewpoint of understanding to a veterinarian.

Just my experience

Its still processing at the time but once done doing that put it on 2160 P

How about thr Dr. G coral dip? It got the active ingredient on it.

It use to but now it says “proprietary formula”. It’s a terrible dip per the instructions but works great used as an in tank treatment of 1ml per gallon

Should I buy the interceptor through canadapets or buy the Dr. G dip. I asked premium aquatics they said it has been discontinued due to them not getting the medicine anymore afrer covid? Anyone has recently ordered directly?

I read that Dr. G's changed their formula, and is not effective anymore? I had smaller white bugs on an acro frag a couple of months back and ordered Interceptor from Canada.

I never used it though because I stopped seeing the bugs or any negative effects on the coral- but now I have some for future use.

Melevsreefs on YouTube did a Interceptor video a little while back. You should be able to find it quite easily.

I read the same thing but talked to Dr G directly and was told it is still the original formula. It works. 1ml per gallon
