white hammer coral

i might have stumbled across some and will hopefully be picking one up next week
they weren’t translucent or anything
green center / mouths sorta and a faint teal hue
if i get it i’ll post pictures under full blue with a filter and again with just white light to see if it’s just a fancy lighting trick

Albino hammer? hmmn… post a pic or your just teasing lol

now i know what you’re thinking….
white = bleached right?
we all know how bleached corals look
but have any of you seen hammers IRL that are white looking but not even bleached?
Pics if you have?

It’s not white by far.
Is nice though.
Maybe I don’t understand.

not pure white like paper but how they look in person is more so a lack of color but not bleached
i just gotta get one and take pictures under normal lighting so people don’t think i’m crazy

I would say these are pale hammers. Maybe not bleached, but on their way or recovering from being bleached. I could be wrong, I have not seen them myself
would different parts recover faster? the green at the center was brighter than any other part of them

I don’t want to mislead you, this is only a guess. But hypothetically if bleached from too bright of lights, the inside would be more resilient as this is shaded from the branches. If the opposite and inside bleached first my guess would be nutrient shortage/issue

It does look healthy in the pic. If it’s opening nice and you don’t see any decay, flesh band is good then get them if you like them

1) I wouldn’t pay extra over standard hammer prices for these
2) I wouldn’t be surprised if over time they developed more color

i’ll be trading for one just a zoa rock i’m trying to move, & they looked really healthy
the inside being more resilient than the rest sounds like it makes sense
they aren’t in high light or anything crazy
the flesh goes down pretty far and i for the most part only get them like that now so i know they’re doing well

either way will be cool to see if it sticks or they develop differently over time

They may color up into a really nice mint color

I have a mint hammer colony, it’s light green in day lighting

It starts to have a blue green glow

And under full blue it’s pretty vibrant and this glowing almost metallic teal color

If it’s just a trade I say go for it. Fyi this colony started as 2 heads and after a year it was 20+
