Maybe it’s combination of the individual species + conditions?

I’ve been doing this a long time lol. You meet people. You find people. You find good companies. You weed out the bad onesyouve always got such good tips for places to buy, vintage reefer!![]()
I’ve had a “white and blue” frogspawn that recovered and became a brown and blue frogspawn 5-6 years ago. I’d never trust a white hammer for that reason - you’ll likely find it will just go to a brown coral eventually.now i know what you’re thinking….
white = bleached right?
we all know how bleached corals look
but have any of you seen hammers IRL that are white looking but not even bleached?
In person its kind of a tan/brown but pale so they look sorta white. nothing special, which is why they arent super popular like the colorful specimens.this is all i can find that similar in looks![]()
after i get this one im definitely gonna order one of those teal ones tooitll be very interesting to see yours ,op!
i’ve never seen ones like this, then again i’ve only been doing this for around 4 1/2 yearsseen "white" a bunch before exactly like your pic, usually maricultured pieces.

also seen paled out golds that look almost white-ish but still more tan.
it is weird that its got a somewhat green center tho in the pics he sent you, which makes me think these are more likely the dulled/recovering from bleaching coloration.
either way i’d be happy, traded a zoaI’ve had a “white and blue” frogspawn that recovered and became a brown and blue frogspawn 5-6 years ago. I’d never trust a white hammer for that reason - you’ll likely find it will just go to a brown coral eventually.
An excellent attitude and goal to have. You will find happiness with an open mind. Let it adjust and see what happens, it might look better than ever in your tank!either way i’d be happy, traded a zoa
rock i wasn’t absolutely in love with
only way i lose is if it dies
my goal when collecting certain types of corals is to collect all kinds of them, if it stays white that’s cool, if it turns green, brown or red like a tomato i’m fine
i’ve got some green splatter (not solid green)
i have a semi orange, yellow, gold/ green ring (this one isn’t doing great atm) dark green/ purple splatter and a big head yellow
just like all the different kinds (end goal is to collect them all including that micro hammer species that will probably never make it to the hobby)
under whites it looks bone coloreditll be very interesting to see yours ,op!

still looks exactly the sameHow’s the hammer looking these days? Interested to see if it changed colors at all![]()
