Just noticed this last night on my YWG. Hoping maybe just a brush with some rock... he's always darting in and out of his caves.

That looks like a likely infection to me -- before I suggest you remove and qt with furan 2, metroplex, and kanaplex wife an acriflavin bath first I'd kind to get other opinions.

That looks like an injury. You can start with just adding vitamins (such as selcon or vitachem) to his food for now to help boost his immune system. Hopefully he can heal on his own. If after a few days it looks like it's getting even a tiny bit worse, then you'll want to remove him to QT and follow Bruce's advice. Acriflavin dip followed by metroplex, kanaplex and Furan2 all together. If it were me, I'd probably go ahead and do the dip and place into QT and watch him to see if he can heal on his own... and if not he's already in QT for treatment.

With the goby that I treated the infection went from a small area, like yours, to a gaping hole over 2? days time. Typically I would agree that you should wait but with what I have experienced I would recommend you go ahead and get him into QT. I also think an acriflavine bath would be good to start with and keep a hawk eye on it. Any sign of it getting worse then I think it would be better to start treatment with furan-2, kanaplex, and metroplex. I've seen two or three instances like this with a goby and I can't figure out why the infection always spreads so quickly. Always on the back/side and only on watchmans, kinda weird o_O. Good luck with the little guy and keep us posted!

Man thank you. This is the third day, and when I get home from work I am going to have to sneak up on him and try to get a good look at it. If anything it got smaller than the first time I saw it. Today may he a whole different story though. I may be heading to the pet store up the road and getting a small quarantine tank tonight. I've never had to QT anything before.

Heater and a power head aimed at surface will suffice?

Not looking great on goby... it's been over a week, but my cleaner is going crazy on him. I rarely see the left side of his body, but last second in video you can see it has spread.

I CANNOT catch this guy. Whats my best bet here??

You might try a fish trap. It's worth a shot. If he's eating you can feed an antibiotic to him using focus to bind it. metroplex is a good one to do this with.

Going to feed some garlic soaked food tonight and get some meds tomorrow. Will try to catch him and get him in QT tomorrow after work. Hopefully he's okay at that time.

I like to use a bubbler while in quarantine. And since it is not cycled something for ammonia.

It's a fishless tank minus the yellow watchman FYI. Does this change anything? Can I treat with him in tank? Could this spread to inverts?

Yes, just be sure the flow from it isn't so strong that it starts blowing the fish around.

Is there a quarantine 101 thread? Do I do a water change from my tank and use that water? New saltwater? Will the QT cycle? Just a few things I have never had to think about or do.
