White Spots in Water

I know this is a very old post, but after a terrible ich outbreak, I now have hundreds of white minuscule specks suspended in my water. As I now have nothing in my tank I am treating it for ich and will give it 4 weeks till I even think of putting any fish in.
Could the white specks be ich, or are they something else?

Ich is microscopic and cannot be seen with the naked eye. The white "pimple" you see on an infected fish is actually a sore from the ich burrowing under the fish's skin.

"white specks" floating around a reef are typically micro bubbles, or free floating pods. Specially in a tank with no predators(fallow).

When I had a ich outbreak years ago, during the fallow period I had so many pods free floating and crawling on the rocks, it looked like my rocks were actually moving.

Some were micro bubbles, I turned everything off waited 30 minutes and the spots were still suspended in the water.

Hmm pods, I guess they could have hitched a ride with the chaeto in my sump, relief at last, thanks again Homer :-)

Could also be pod exoskeletons. Pods molt like shrimp, and often times I will see their shed exoskeleton floating around the reef.

Of course with wrasses, I no longer see them, but I know they are still there.
