I'm not talking special as in close to your heart (although you can share those as well):). I mean "special", as in not normal, be it looks or behavior. I am a sucker for the unusual (usually what others would call ugly) so it's no surprise when I was asked to give this guy a home that I couldn't say no. This is Harold.

I originally balked because my tank is too small for any adult tang, but after seeing him, I realized this wouldn't be a problem for a long time, if ever. Unfortunately for him, he had a rough life previously. I was told he lived in a tiny, unkept tank for 5 years and poor feeding and water conditions caused him to loose his fins. Even after the previous owner started to take better care of the tank and feed better food and vitamins, they are too far gone to grow back and his growth was severely stunted. He is maybe 4 inches with tail, and at least 5 years old. I suppose there is always the chance he will start growing again, but that just means i will have to get a bigger tank, like that isn't going to happen anyway lol! He has such an amazing personality and always seems so happy. I think he is an adorable guy, even if he is a major photo bomber lol.

So who else has a "special" fish? Let's see some special pics and stories are always a plus!:)

Awww cute! That is so wonderful that you did that. :) I only have four fish right now (though that will be changing soon...heheheheh (evil laugh)), and they are all "traditional" for lack of a better word...but I will come back and post one of mine if I ever get a special addition. :)

I would purposely pick out the "special" ones! As long as special doesn't mean sick lol. Thanks to this guy I won't be adding any more fish to this tank, but I am ok with that because he is just awesome:)

I have a one eyed Yellow Flanked Wrasse (from @Humblefish). He often sits in his cave home with his good eye towards the front of the tank looking for me at feeding time. He's a very excitable boy and has jumped out of the tank no less than 10 times in the 9 months I've had him during feeding time (the only time my screen tops are off). His eye loss hasn't hindered him as he's #2 in command in the tank behind a 6" Pink Margin.

Here he is peaking out of his cave on the right side of the picture.

I almost bought a blue hippo that was cool like this... almost set up another tank I have sitting around just to get him because I wanted him to have a good home.
Aw you should have! If you still have the chance i would go for it! Idk why but the special guys just seem to have more personality. It's like they know that they were rescued and love you for it. He always wants to hang out near my arm when I am in the tank, which is cute but freaks me out lol. I am not sure if it is because of his fins being how they are, but his little barb seems to stick out farther then "normal" tangs. As much as I love him I would rather not end up in the hospital from a fish hug gone wrong hahaha

Well I had everything lined up and went to the store and it had a sold sticker on the tank. :( I kind of wanted to set my red sea up as well. :P

Aw that stinks, I'm sorry! He was beautiful! He didn't die from being one eyed did he?
I'm not sure what happened. The store had it for almost two months and it did fine in a tank with more aggressive eaters. I got it into my 240g and it did okay for about a month and it was dead when I got home from work one day. Had been eating and acting fine, so I'm not sure exactly what happened.

Oh that's a bummer, at least you will be prepared for next time though:)
