Who has Angels in a reef tank??

I have had a Coral Beauty for almost a year now with no problems. I went with a captive bred one though in hopes that since it never lived on a reef it never developed a taste for coral. So far it's been good.

I have a regal, a trimaculatus, a blueface (the king of the tank), a bellus, an aurantia, two loriculus and I am about to add a multicolor. All of them model citizens in a mostly SPS tank (acros, montis and some stylophora). I also have had some tridacna without problems coming from the angels.

I've kept several in various reefs with mixed results. French, annularis, eibli, flame, flameback, emperor, blueface. Most recently I had an annularis that picked at nothing. I currently have a blueface that has never picked at SPS or mushrooms. It did decide to pick at softies though (but not zoa's). So I keep the softies elsewhere. Angels are too cool for me not to have at least one.

My flame has been well behaved, but I do feed heavily (five tangs) and have a lot of rock work to keep him busy.

Ive had a Koran Angel in my reef tank for over 2 years. Got him as a juvenile and he is just now finishing transition. Never had a problem with him at all.

I have had flame angel for the last three years and no issues at all. I tried a majestic angel that was about three inches long , had adult coloration and didnt bother anything, was eating frozen food and algae from the clip but it was outrun by the other tank mates at feeding time. So it died after a few months. I will give a try to anotherone when i find a healthy and small specimen, maybe a Regal.
Forgot to mention, my tank is soft coral dominated, including zoas.

ive been debating on trying out some juvenile angels in one of my systems.i would not leave any high end stuff in the tank but would have a mixed reef of corals i have a surplus of ( aka easy growers) what have you guys tried? or what do you guys have?

I have tried tiny emperor angels 3x and never had issues with them even with most soft corals including zoas. By the time they start changing color (4" or so) is when they started sampling the soft corals and LPS. At this point I would re-home to clients FOWLR tanks.

Yeah that was my experience as well. I recently was laid off and moved office tank home to basement rec room. Mainly mushrooms, leather and a few zoas. Currently only have a damsel and clown and cleaner shrimp in tank...thinking of adding a dwarf angel. Any thought?

I have a beautiful flame angle, which has not nipped much at my corals...yet. I do keep my fish pretty fat and happy though.

I currently have a 5" Emperor and a 3.5" Lemon Peal. As stated above, when the Emperor grew to around 4" he started nipping at clams, LPS, Acans, and zoas. I have also had a couple other varieties over the years. They all seem to prefer orange LPS and eventually have expensive taste but I really like them

A lot of people don't believe me when I tell them the Flame Angel is one of the more aggressive dwarfs. Mine was a jerk too.

I had a female watanabei in my reef. I went with a planktivore to be safe. No issues at all.

I have a pair of yellow masked swallow tail angels in one tank and I have two dwarf golden angels in anther.

Swallowtail Angel for me! She is great and has caused no problems. She’s a bully to other fish in the tank, but no interests in coral. I’ve always wanted to try other Angels, but just didn’t think the risk was worth it. Too many other fish out there that I like that pose no risk to corals.
