Who has disguised thier overflow

Tried to hide them. Still some growing to do. Soon bizarro cyphastrea will cover it all.

Rock overflows can look cool, but I second that you can't even see a black overflow in most cases if your back is painted black. Especially a coast to coast or similar where all of the bulkheads are drilled towards the top. As for price of the "Ghost," you can have a exponentially better overflow fabricated at your local plastics shop. Ive had 5 of these made in various sizes. This one is 6' long by 5"X6" tall. I ran an identical one on my 180 and you couldnt see it from the display with Halides. Surface skimming from a true coast to coast is unmatched. Pardon the scapeless tank. I'm still building the scape and waiting on my lights. There's a little Kessil lighting it right now just for effect till I finish the build.

The Glass-Holes kit comes with everything....drill bit, guide, bulkheads, elbows and other parts. I have the 1500 gallon kit that required two holes:

With the 1500 you have two 1 1/2 pipes coming out the back of your tank:

And the best part, the saw-toothed overflow is relatively small:

For a 40B I'd recommend the 700 kit.....only one 1 1/2" drain.

That hole kit is flippin' cool!

I have a tank with those two big overflows in each corner. I was determined to hide it, so I thought spray foam with rocks and shells imbedded into it was a great idea. Wrong. The covers floated. Trying to weigh down the foam is ridiculously hard.

That's good information, something to think about...thanks

Seriously how much to ship me some of that!?

Not sure if this counts, but I didn't specifically disquies my overflow, other than to add a ornage monti to it, but my tank grows coralline algae like crazy, and I let it grow over the overflow tower. Over the years it grew into a thick purple sheet of coralline that looks like rock.

Thanks everyone, Based on what I've seen so far I am going with the Shadow overflow and painting the back glass black...

This way Ill have more room in the tank and it'll blend in with the black.

But if people still want to post photos I'd still love to see the overflows.

@Reef_Pilot I want to see that when you get the tank going with the other rock. Well done. I like that you added the little shelves and skeletons of other corals.

@najer that pavona is a good idea

Tubbs Blue Zoas

I went with the Eshopps eclipse overflow box for my new tank instead of the Shadow for only one reason. The box on the outside is clear and I was more comfortable with being able to look in there at anytime without have to remove the lid. Just to see if anything was other floating around. It also has a black interior box that will be blended in when I skin the back of the tank in black. The shadow is a very nice overflow though.. [emoji106]
