Who has killed a Xenia and why?

I've had a Xenia since early on. Last month it closed up and has not opened since. Today I found a part of it had release from the rock it was on.
Parameters are now looking great since getting a doser.
Not sure I care as it gives me more room for other softies

Only part of so I put it in my sump
But the remainder has been closed up tighter than a fishes a55

How is lighting and flow by it? Could you list parameters?
There usually has to be something pretty wrong for Xenia to close for that wrong, though often it’s an easy fix.

Check your params. I noticed when I moved some of mine to a grown out tank which had new H2O, they shrank and didn’t open up til I got my NO3 and PO4 up a bit.

I had one die off on me- I think because my water was too clean. I bottomed out my nutrients and it (and most other corals) didn't like it.

I've actually unintentionally killed xenia (and not in a whole tank crash - other coral was thriving). I don't know what the issue was then, and I still don't. In the long term, I'm glad I'm not dealing with it. Mine didn't close up for an extended period of time - it just slowly shrunk away (though I did find a few polyps on the sandbed) until nothing was left.

Without knowing your actual current parameters or seeing pics, I'm curious if you've had any big shifts or swings in parameters? You mentioned getting a doser which is usually helpful in keeping things stable, but the initial setup can lead to some significant parameter changes as you get things dialed in. Big changes in parameters in a short period of time can annoy (or kill) even the most (in)famously hardy coral.

parameter wise there's nothing wrong with the tests I have.

my waters pretty dirty. All other softies love it. Struggling with No3. Now getting under control from 60ppm down to 35 yesterday

LOL, I thought the same when I read the title. Was cracking my knuckles getting ready to list all the times I've killed them and why. In all seriousness, I don't hate them & they're like anything, great in moderation.

It’s possible the quick change in nitrate bothered the coral.

My Nitrates have been up and down for ages.
It was happy right till it wasn't.
So much for xenia being impossible to kill.

Just remembered I had used fluconazale a few weeks back. But only used 1/2 the recommended dose for my tank.
Bryopsis gone. This would aligned with Xenia initially closing up
