Julian Sprung, Sanjay, Mike Poletta, etc

There has been an explosion of Youtube content over the last couple of years that has caught my attention. I like American Reef channel, Gallery Aquatica TV, Reef Builders, etc.

Reef Central in the mid 2000's is where I started. However, R2R has opened the door to a lot of talented hobbyist that has led me to my best Reef yet!
 
Lot's of the above have helped me greatly. I'll add @Humblefish is the main reason I have a tank full of healthy fish, many that have been with me for years. @ROCO helped me out early on and showed me what a mature reef tank can look like. Also entrusted me with lots of frags down through the years.

Marc Levenson helped me years ago with diy sump design and acrylic work.

Sanjay Joshi and Dana Riddle for lighting.

Randy Holmes-farley for chemistry.

Humblefish for fish disease. Hotrocks now because I don't think Humblefish is active on R2R anymore.

Coral husbandry is several individuals really. Adam @Battlecorals has helped me a couple times in the past 2 years. His sps knowledge is super helpful.

Hard to pick just one person for everything.

My brother, Adam, has been my mentor throughout the process. Ive learned alot from his 15+ years in the hobby and run an annoying amount of ideas by him. He's basically the final piece in my data matrix. Ryan from BRS, Mark Callahan in the beginning, Tien from Tidal Gardens and his dulcid tones, and this forum are my go-to when I'm researching or need questions answered.

Excepting folks on here (which there are many), I'd have to say Travis at FishOHex Aquatics and Marc Levenson. Totally opposing styles and personalities. The Hex guy is constantly cursing in his videos, keeps it very brief, and have yet to hear him speak a lighthearted word, but his coral is growing out of the tank.

Marc (a.k.a. Melev) is so sincere and earnest, plus he was running moderate nitrates before it was cool. Also monster colonies and his vids run an hour or more. He can seriously talk about any reef-related topic for well over an hour without breaking a sweat.

After I made a major screw up, I'd pick Marc to offer reassurance and a hug, and Travis to throw me a beatdown severe enough that I'd never do anything so stupid again ;Joyful

I’m not a chemist, so RHF is the person I most look to for advice on things I do not know. Otherwise, nobody specific really. Good and innovative ideas can be found in many places; as, of course, can bad ones. The books of Peter Wilkins (he’s The Godfather of Reefing to me) and chats with Albert Theil got me into the hobby.
 
Back before the internet craze when I first started keeping marine tanks it was authors like Albert Thiel, Julian Sprung, Peter Wilkins, and Alf Nilsen. Bob Fenner and Scott Michaels were also authors of books that helped draw me into the hobby. Now I pull from my experiences and the many knowledgeable hobbyists I come across here and on YouTube.
