so made my first online ever coral purchase here. the pack corals came all alive, got some zoas and acans. temp acclimate for 15-20 min. then water accliment, not drip method, but a small cup every 5-10 min, until water doubled. immediately, i saw one of the zoas was detached from the rubble it was on when i open the bag. none of the other were open. i glued that one onto a rock, i have not much experiece gluing things, did my best. one day later, that one disappeared from the rock... obviously detached. and another day pass, another zoas detached.... only 1 is open now. couple more days pass, another melted.... the one open one is doing pretty good. the one that detached or melted was obviously newly cut frag, as i can tell the plugs were really new, pure white almost. the one that's doing well, its not. who is to take responsibility the detached and melted one? its wasnt much... but still..

If something melts in your tank, I would have to say its your baby..not the vendors fault..part of the hobby, stuff happens..IMO

What does new *** plugs have to do With anything?

I think he was meaning new plug= fresh cut cut frag.

customers fault imo. Everything arrived healthy and was acclimated. If it's dead or dying in the bag before entering the water, I always contact the vendor and take pics. Anything else is a gamble with these creatures. Some take shipping, fragging and acclimating well. Others are extremely fragile and finicky. Sorry for the loss. Contact the vendor anyway. Some are very cool about things like that and give credit for future purchases.

As much as I hate to say I agree. Unless sumthing was worked out the on the day you got them. If sumthin is not right you should always tell the seller asap so they know whats going on. Waiting a day or 2 = loss on your part not the person you bought them from

what about the detached ones? those were obviously not glued well in the first place or healed so it can attach themselves. i didnt say anyone was at fault, just that i've never bought things online before, so just want to see what can be done. i've contacted the seller already, he's cool and understanding, i dont blame anyone, just want to make sure next time i order, i will wait a couple of weeks before having it shipped. my main question is, fresh cut frag that detached to the plug that it is shipped with, who should be responsible for that? one was already detached inside the bag already. so... get what i mean?

thanks

It's always good to ask how long the coral has been fragged.

Sometimes the cheapest deal isn't always the best way to go...

let me rephrase my question.

who should be more responsible:
sending out fresh fresh cut frags?
or
accepting fresh fresh cut frags... lol

seller: experienced seller...
buyer: first time online buyer...

+1 on the cheap deals, you will definitely get what you pay for in this hobby:(You can't pay $100 for a 20 piece variety pack and expect to get top grade stuff.

i would make them wait longer next time before they ship. then you have alot less to worry about, but it still happens

I say both parties most vendor sellers will wait a week atleast for a frag to heal before shipping but you as the buyer first time or not, should've asked if the frags were fresh cut and asked the seller to hold until healed. most zoas wil heal in a couple days some will take longer..... but in your situation I would say unless the person and or store you bought them from is willing to send you New ones (frags) you should atleast pay shipping to obtain the new frags. But if I was the person selling the frags I would of informed you they were fresh and needed to heal first unless you wanted them un-healed. them falling off the glue is a sign they were fresh cut.

i was informed they were fresh cut, i guess it was my fault for accepting then. but detaching from a plug, not one, but 2 frags... is kinda... well, i dont know... its not a big deal, live and learn i guess...

i've bought fresh cut frags locally in my area before, and some seller when i tell them it detached, they replaced it without any issue, without me even asking it to be replaced. but some just dont care.... so i'm not sure how the online folks does things...

I don't beleive that should even be an option if your a vendor. Why send out something that isnt healed and take the risk/hassle of a DOA???It is just poor customer service really.

+1 but forget customer service, what about the poor little coral??? I recently bought several SPS and the vendor told me 2weeks for healing. I totally agreed with him and when it came to 2 weeks time I asked him if he'd mind giving them a 3rd week to continue healing. Its super important IMO to give ample time for healing. Poor little guys, now they are either free floating around the tank or slowly dying :(

 if you really dont know, it means that the corals were cut to order and not healed properly. You can always tell if a frag is aged if the ceramic is discolored

are you serious???? How long does it take for a frag disk to become discolored??? weeks, months..????..so im supposed to cut frags and let them heal a month so " frag plugs look not new"???
