it would only take less then a week for it to be somewhat discolored it will not take months unless your looking for coraline algea on the plug. you can tell the difference between a frag thats has been sitting in a take a week or more rather then a cut piece and placed in a bg to ship out. So I see where Staf0s is coming from with his or her comment.

i would have to disagree!!!..i have frag disks in my tank that still look bleach white and have been in there for well over a month...less than a week ?????? mabey its the plug material???

maybe my system is too clean..???

well acrylic plugs would be an exeption. but the plugs will not be the same as a new plug. and it maybe your system is too clean. depends on which one of my system's I have them in. they are not totally dirty but you can see there is something on them besides the white that they come.

You should see my frag tank I have all kinds of Zoas that have fallen off the plug and are now growing mini colonies on the eggcrate lol. Normally when I buy something and it comes off i just reattach it with no problem but if its a lower end zoa or something I let it find its own home. If its something simple like that I never bother the vendor with it only time I do is if its dead on arrival which has never happend to me. You gotta understand just because you get a pretty box that says fragile handle with care its being thrown around the UPS/Fedex/USPS hub then thrown in the truck. You think they care lol when they pull a box beside yours for deliveries yours may fall 5 ft to the ground who knows my UPS driver has a temper lol always be nice to them because next time they might take it out on your box. lol I promise you those people arent like ok guys we have a fragile box carry it over there and be very very careful it says fragile now set it in the truck very gently and make sure you dont hit any bumps. Heck no have you seen how these idiots drive holy crap they scare me sometimes

I don't beleive that should even be an option if your a vendor. Why send out something that isnt healed and take the risk/hassle of a DOA???It is just poor customer service really.

its called wreckless reefing!

+1 but forget customer service, what about the poor little coral??? I recently bought several SPS and the vendor told me 2weeks for healing. I totally agreed with him and when it came to 2 weeks time I asked him if he'd mind giving them a 3rd week to continue healing. Its super important IMO to give ample time for healing. Poor little guys, now they are either free floating around the tank or slowly dying :(

i wouldnt deal with that guy again!
2 weeks isnt enough time for hardly anything to heal surely not SPS.
2 weeks is to make sure it will live after fragging! that does not mean it will live after shipping stress and acclimation into someone elses tank.
point in case i have a 40br sitting here with 60 sps frags alive and well and yet everything i have got from a certain vender is dead or dying! over 20 frags dead! that does not include the 20 or so dead zoas that never even opened in another tank, yet i have plenty of zoas and some sps in there also!

i waited 2 weeks to ship after the 2 weeks and ive had 4 zoas in a week that are melting or not open yet.... SURELY NOT half of them like i was getting....
the out of the 10 sps only 4 are barely holding on all clearly had some skeleton showing around the glue from the get go! they were not healed as the ad said!
the bottom of the line is this
DO NOT ACCEPT ANY ORDER THAT IS NOT HEALED PERIOD!
to those vendors that continue to do this what it all boils down to is charge backs! bad rep and bankruptcy! do you want this for your business? if you do then by all means continue to do this! for those of you that dont i wish you well!

Live and learn. First time buying from a reputable seller, and half my stuff dead/gone.... I don't understand the concept of live arrival gaurentee. Does softy and LPS really dies from over night from shipping? I've seen SPS dead over night, but zoas and LPS..... I've only see them slowly disappear... If i cut a frag at 5pm, glue it to a plug, and send it out at 7pm, arrive next day at customer at 10am, if its packed well, what's the chance of the polyps dead upon arrival?

anyway, this wasnt my case, i hope, I was told my zoas frags were cut a week before it was sent out. Good thing my LPS are all good, i think those were cut a while before, but definitely freshly glued to the plug, as one of the LPS fell off the plug too, but those dont float away, so i didnt loose it.

And i can tell you that these werent cheap zoas, i bought single polyps.... he hooked me up with some extra polyps, but the end result is I dont have any now.

your exactly right!
when they are crushed or physical damage surely.

sometimes they do fall off. superglue is not made to adhere to something wet. then you have those frags attached to rocks, but the mat is off the rock! surely that frag is questionable

get 4-5 frags in the same small bag!
has anyone heard of chemical warfare? i guess its so new that some still yet to grasp the concept.

lps shouldnt be able to loose their heads as they are a calcerous coral. them falling off the plugs should matter much at all

LPS falling of the plug doesnt matter at all, but it just shows that it was freshly glued.

Last month I bought a 4 piece SPS pack from a vendor on here for $125. I waited 3 weeks to get them and I opened the box and 2 were broken of the frag plugs and a couple days later died completely. So in my opinion you can wait 1 week or 2 months it can still fall off the plug. I didnt call them or complain im not that kinda person I just deal with the hand thats dealt.

or very poorly glued

falling off the plug is one thing but when you get them with white rings around where the glue is it is not healed! period!
just might i ask what do you think the plug does the the coral?

in my expeirence i lost some and won some. shipping is so volitile to the corals its hard to say. but as a new online buyer i never asked for the seller to hold them for a week or so. till you loose something.
so now every time i buy a frag pack or something from a seller, i will ask if it is fresh cut, if it is, then i will ask them to hold for 2 weeks. if they wont, then i will pass. i got burned on a expensive chalice pack that i didnt ask if they were new cuts, but they were and i lost alot of them.
also, ask for pics of the exact frags you are getting. most will do this for so, so if you see something odd then you can ask.

same thing happened to me, i got some nice zoas in and i lost my darth maul and some other nice ones overnight cause it detached. zoas are hard to keep glued after shipping. when you frag and try to glue your best with the least amount of glue so as to leave some room for the polyp to bud and grow. but when you glue a few days prior to shipping then the polyp can shrink out of the glue it was in before it could mount itself to the plug.
i never sell or buy without a short healing period. you live and you learn in this hobby.

yes you do live and learn.... wish that it didnt cost money... lol...
