Who's the oldest reefer on the forum?

I got all kinds of brimless worms in that gravel bed. It was good.

I'm 52. Started reefing in 2000. I started saltwater in 1977. I had/have freshwater for ? years before that. I remember an old tank that came from my grandmother. It had a slate bottom and the corners/sides were made of plaster or cement to look like logs. I worked in a lfs at 14 when Nectonics was the premium underwater filter. Penn Plex was the main aquarium manufacturer. FAMA was introduced. (I actually have the first couple years of FAMA. They're fun to look back into to see what was considered cutting edge in the hobby and now is beyond antiquated.) Damsels were $3.99, Percula clowns were $5.99. Flame angels were around $39.99. small Clown triggerfish were $99. I remember that if you wanted a Purple Tang, they were $400 a piece. Cash upfront. Live delivery not guaranteed. Walt Smith was our main wholesale provider. Geez the memories of those days.

My tank was features in one of those old FAMMA's. I still have it someplace.

I remember when I went from a air stone powered UG filter to a reverse flow! You think a wireless mp40 is sexy?? Let me tell you 2 reversed power heads sitting upon your UG tubes was sexy. Lol

And still is ( right Paul?)
Ok, maybe not super model sexy.

Did someone mention under gravel filters? Powerheads on the 2 outer ones and air tube in the center. Also crushed coral and the latest in skimmer technology, the Seaclone! Surprisingly the tank did very well for over a decade even with feeding a dozen feeder fish to a stars and stripes puffer and wolf eel daily.

Yes Mike, very sexy. My first tank was wood
