Curious as too why so many are for sale? Is the lack of controlability the problem or something else?

I didn’t know that G5 blues are for sale. Where are they for sale? Controllability isn’t an issue, I currently use them.

What I meant was that so many are being sold on R2R.

Not sure as to why. I will have to look. They are focused around the AB+ spectrum, I have seen that some want a whiter light spectrum which is not achievable with the G5 blue. So they go to the G5 pro. I wanted a higher par reading with the AB+ spectrum, thus going with the XR15 G5 blues in my hybrid.

I switched my light order recently from the Blues to the pros since with both versions you can achieve the AB+ spectrum.

I'd like to hear from the reefers that are selling them what are some of the reasons they are getting rid of them?

I only see two adds. Both claim new/unopened, so probably bought for builds that didn’t happen.

Those are the 2 most recent ones. Broader search will show a lot more.

I'm going with all pros on my 500. You can achieve blue light pretty good on the pros. You'll see LFS's running blues because they show off the colors more on the corals. I like my tank to have a natural look so I'm sticking with the pros and some blue supplementation with Orphek bars.

With the pros, you can have white or blue or in the middle. If you go with blues and think you need a little less blue, it's hard to achieve. I think everybody jumped on the blues at first because it was newest thing.

I've noticed this myself. As a owner of 2 XR15 blues for the last 4+ months I'm still not sure if I like them or not.
What is it that you don't like about them? The lack of spectrum control? Tank too blue?

Easier to just search G5 Blue in the marketplace forum
Did that too LOL. I’m all for some hyperbole, but I still don’t see ‘so many’ given how many folks rushed to buy them when they first came out. I actually thought about replacing my Gen4, but didn’t like the idea of being forced to use mobius (which I found a bit clunky with versa).

Anyhow, pretty common to see some % resold after launch.

This is not a Ecotech bashing thread by any means so all reading/posting do not take it as such.

I am a fan of the AB+ spectrum and use it on all my tanks. I am sure that a majority that purchased the blue version are in the camp as me.

I remember in our meeting you talking about this subject. I too love the AB+ on my current pros/non pros and have seen the g5 blue in a LFS and they look great.

I’ve owned both. I went from pro to blue. More violet and I was running it close to AB+, so pro had a ton of lost par.
Did you happen to measure par on both sets of lights? And if you did how much PAR was lost running the AB+ on the pro versus the Blue?

For me - having replaced T5 with G5 - couldn't get a whitish/blue color I liked. Running high whites just looked awful. My corals also got really funky when I switched but I chalk that up to not acclimating properly.
