Why all the G5 Blues for sale?

I remember in our meeting you talking about this subject. I too love the AB+ on my current pros/non pros and have seen the g5 blue in a LFS and they look great.
Yes g5's certainly have their place on some tanks, I just like to have that flexibility with the pros. I don't usually chase par numbers but if it needed more I'll just add more lights to keep the spectrum flexibility. If that makes sense

For me - having replaced T5 with G5 - couldn't get a whitish/blue color I liked. Running high whites just looked awful. My corals also got really funky when I switched but I chalk that up to not acclimating properly.
You switched from T5 to G5 Blue

What is it that you don't like about them? The lack of spectrum control? Tank too blue?
4 months not enough time to see how well they grow coral. Past that I have to say I'm happy with them. In all fairness the tank they are on is the first tank in 5 decades of doing this that my nitrate and phosphate are always at zero. I have started dosing and I've never had to do that(it's like everything I thought I knew I don't).
I am a big fan of the AB+ spectrum which is why I bought them.

I opted for xr30 pros over the blues because the usable spectrums on the pros outnumbered the blues. Albeit I run AB+ and find that with the pros it's adequately white.

Did you happen to measure par on both sets of lights? And if you did how much PAR was lost running the AB+ on the pro versus the Blue?
~20% more par with blue (@ ~6” below waterline, 250 pro and 300 blue) (xr15)

Also about the spectrum. Blue has a broader 420-500 peak.

I really like the Radion Blue with a Kessil turned to white. Broad 400-500 nm coverage with nice white shimmer to balance.

Makes sense.

The lack of spectrum control is my reason to switch over to the Pro instead of the Blues. While I know I will be losing PAR running AB+ on the pro light, what that % is, is unknown.

I currently have both. Sometimes the blue makes the tank look cyan depending on the spectrum. It’s just based on your blue to white tank preference

Since you have both have you set both to AB+ spectrum and see an actual difference between the 2? Have you been able to take PAR readings from both of them?

I'm pretty sure BRS mentioned the pro has more par. I just picked up 3 pros.

I have a G5 Pro and my 2 cents is that I have a sbar actinic strip and T5 where I can boost the blues so I got pro to create other parts of spectrum. If you get the PRO and dial down the whites to ~20% you are essentially running AB+ and the Blue version will be better (aka more PAR) since they have less white LED and more blue LEDs. If you plan to run more warm white and cool white then pro is the best route. Pro will only have more par if you run the whites higher than 30% which is a non AB+ program and looks more violet/pink.

In the other reefing forums I see people listing their G5’s for sale also. Not sure if they were pros or blues. Nonetheless I found it odd...

Seeing how you have supplemental lights, what % are you running your radion pro white channel leds at and overall power %?
