Why aren't stags more popular?

That's the best part of the hobby! Softies/gorgs, non photosynthetic coral, all sorts of LPS and SPS - so may choices to do whatever someone really likes! Just the variety of say a montipora only tank can be amazing with branching forms, plating, encrusting and all the colors those forms have now.

Seems stags come in such great colors i dont have any myself but after looking at those photos i think this post changed my mind.

+1 for stags here. I'd have to say they are my favorite SPS. I really like the open growth pattern and how they don't block all the light as they grow out and makes it easy to get good flow.

So, I've been following this thread since the beginning, and now that we have established that stags are sweet; I think we should all list our top three to five most wanted/beautiful stags we have encountered.

I'll start

Bali green slimer ( I have been looking for this one since I started my tank)
ORA blue voodoo (I have this, and love it)
Bubblebath Unicorn ( I want this one really bad, it looks like one of the nicest corals I have ever seen)

What are the fastest growing and most hardy stars around? I have a purple staghorn that is just bullet proof. Alk swings that phase LPS don't even make it blink.

I plan on populating my 60 gallon with stags, once we are able to get algae under control and we get the thing looking nice. Stags, zoas, rics, acans, monti caps, and perhaps a few brains - what more can you ask for?

I won't put them in my tank anymore, they just grow too big too fast. I am forever fraging them. I like them in other people tanks, just not mine. :D

They definitely grow out fast and tend to take up more room vs how dense a birds nest or stylo grow.

Stags do grow really fast, but they don't grow so fast that they are hard to frag. There are lots of reefers that will take those frags.

That's is a stunning reef. Placement, contrast...just ridiculous. Thanks for the inspiration

Count me in as a big fan of stags. Here is one of my favorites from my prior tank. Luckily I was able to find another frag of it for my new tank :)
