Why do naso tangs always die.

What size tank? Naso tangs need huge tanks.

A 180g is sorta smallish. Beautiful fish, but not for 99% of most people.

FWIW I think many folks underestimate the amount of ammonia a big fish can excrete under stress and let them spend way too long acclimating in a tiny volume of water. Can be lethal.

Matt. While I agree that a bigger fish = more waste, a healthy tank should process this extremely well. I have never had ammonia issues in my tank even when I added a 3" powder brown, 5" hippo, 3 chromis and a mandarin all at once with my existing 8" naso and 5" Atlantic blue. Just had a nitrate spike which has settled in thanks to my Bio pellets.

Sorry for not being more clear, was just referring to acclimation where for the whole duration they are typically in a small container holding an even smaller volume of water. (One scenario that can definitely cause delayed premature death in a fish like a Naso.)

Hope this makes sense! :)
