Why do people dislike bristleworms?

Just the vast numbers. It was a small 20G that was way overfeed. I had a species that got pretty big. Every time I moved something or pick something up there would be large bristleworms. At night I would snag some fatty long worms. Which was fun and rewarding however I wasn’t making a dent in their population. Just got old.
I hear ya makes sense

Probably hated because of the tremors movies

I run an extra high nutrient tank and also ‘raise’ and sell BW, Limpets, Ball anemones,Spaghetti worms, snails, Micro mini stars, Fan Worms,Lightbulb anemones, Micro algae’s and others. I can definitely beat IPSF price<quantities…I only try and send when weather is ideal. If anyone is looking….

Their prices are terrible for quantities. Did we just become best friends!

They come out during feeding and then climb back into holes I see no issue why do people not like them? Looks? Attack coral? Just curious is all
Not welcome in my tanks. I was ok with them until finding a 15" and 13" in in a past tank and having a foxface with bristles on them.

See now that’s a good answer one I was waiting for that makes complete sense to not have them in the tank that’s insane

Like I said it really determines on species. If you see a medium size one go ahead and yank it out if you can. I definitely had a large bad species in my old tank. They were really round and plump looking. They looked similar to earthworms…. The species I have now stay small and are rigid looking…. I’ll see if I have a pic of from my first tank.

Ugly, painful, can infest macroalgae (making collection a pain if not wearing some good gloves), and can lodge their bristles into fish (which can cause an infection).

I got a few monster boys i can send ya.

LOL! I had a 40g setup years ago that I ran for 7 or 8 years. When I had to move and broke it down I found one that was over 2' long. In a tank that small it was a monster!

Some people think they r ugly. Some people think they eat their fishes(i doubt that). I also hv bigger bristleworms but I never found they harmed anything. They will come when u overfeed the tank.
Most people have eurythoe complanata in their tank which carries harmful toxin(says my research on internet)

When comparing I had a type of eurythoe complanata..(Fireworm!) In my first tank. Says they come in different colors but definitely similar to the ones I used to have. Get nice and plump and like to reproduce when food is available. Earthwormy like. So the moral to this story is Fireworm= Bad… Common Bristle Worms=Good, but watch’em… Here is a good article on
eurythoe complanata….
