Why does BRS seem to be the default site?

It's already been noted a hundred times so far...but awesome customer service and product lineup. Only time I don't shop there is if they don't have what I'm looking for. Love their videos too.

I really enjoy that fact that BRS is the Walmart of the reefing community. You can usually find good deals on items you want or need.

I tend to shop around, though...but a lot of Amazon's comparable items are NOT at MAP pricing....so it's a breath of fresh air if I can't get it from Amazon.

I shop brs because of fast shipping. They are in Minnesota and I’m in Illinois so it fast shipping. Marine depot and sa takes too long to deliver to me. So that is why I shop brs. Lately I’ve been going to my lfs. I want to support him and keep him in business.

I try and buy my stuff from my local store(over an hour away) as they order from BRS and it helps them. Without good local shops it only hurts our hobby, if our local shops also order from BRS,Premium Aquatics,Marine Depot,Saltwater Aquarium.com it is win win for everyone.
Yes I love the video's that BRS does even tho they dropped the ball on the Black Box light video, so instead of making haste I am going to do a broad study of Black Box lights.

I don't buy from BRS I am new to the hobby and asked what parts I would need for my first reef tank and all they said was there's a lot to choose from so we can't help you pick anything. I contacted Saltwater Aquarium and they sent me multiple emails telling me different parts at different prices that would work for my needs. So I always use Saltwater Aquarium.

I can’t speak for everyone, but I choose to shop at brs as a way of supporting their ongoing involvement in the reefing community. Their YouTube videos have been invaluable to me.

They also have excellent customer service.
Absolutely!! You nailed it!

I was using them. But their prices for their products have gone 70-100% higher. Yes. Double in some cases (5 gallon buckets of alk and cal supplements).

my respect for them hasn’t declined. They are extremely supportive to the community. But since their acquisition - corporate greed is more and more evident.

I have gone to alternatives on most of the things I used to buy from them. Working on switching the rest.
Aqua cave is a great option. No tax for my state as well.
My two cents.

But realy I get my salt from chewy. Alot cheaper and I only had one bucket that was broke. But , they had me one the very next day.

I'm in the same boat but I use Premium Aquatics. I've been buying a lot of my stuff from them since the late 90's. The don't collect tax for Texas either, which they shouldn't. The tax issue is strange. I'm thinking BRS just collects it for Texas to make it easy instead of following the rules to see if they actually need to collect them for Texas. Of course now that they are part of a larger company that may not be the case and they now fall within the collecting rules all the time.
