Why does my coral keep closing and opening?

Mine prefer low light medium high flow.
In the future look up lighting and flow requirements prior to purchase.

Ok so if this was your coral would you leave it or move it to the sand?

I think you have placed it directly under a light source that maybe too powerful in regards to habitat it came from, best think to do is either match par intensity along with parimaters and place it like it's original location from your LFS, or be careful/cautious and just place it as low as possible/sandbed and work with it until it becomes stable/ adjust to your aquarium.

It will not hurt or harm it if you place it at the bottom of your tank, it will show you/ reach out more if it requires more light then you can move it up a little.

I agree, you should research requirements for coral before purchasing.

No one on here owes you anything. People that are nice enough to take the time to share their knowledge is a courtesy not a requirement. You're not the only one here who needs help and an emergency is 200 gallons on your living room floor not a newly acquired coral. Probably not a good idea to start burning bridges this early in your venture.

Why don’t you tell that to the other person. I was just asking a question and they made a big stink about it. I just did not want to lose $150 on a coral this early on.
