How old is the tank? Looks pretty new and going through some of the “uglies”.

To me, it just looks like rock with some green algae growing in it. Various algal blooms are common right after establishing a tank.

Nutrients from the rock probably. My did same thing... do normal water changes. Keep eye on parameters. It will go away and eventually coralline will take over [emoji120]

Tank has been up since about june.

And would it be safe to start adding corals?

As long as all your parameters are stable I would say yes. I would start with something simple/beginner though just in case (LPS/ softie/zoa) just my input

Posting your parameters will help people give you a better answer.
Salinity
Temp
Ph
Alkalinity
Calcium
Magnesium
Nitrates
Phosphates
Assuming tank is cycled with no ammonia or nitrates

Ok some good info to start with.

The parameters you posted look good. I personally think alk is a bit high at 10 to start but that’s just my opinion.
A good nitrate and phosphate kit are very important now as this will help determine what may be fueling algae growth.

You are good to start with a few corals, but start with a few small cheap frags to see how it goes.

But you really need to get those kits.

Do you have any fish yet?

Also, how big is the tank? What equipment and what kind of lighting? Sump?

My tank is about 3 months post-cycle and my rock had the same algae all overt it... worse where more direct light hits it. Snails are working on it, but it seems to be permanent in the rock now! It doesn't come off with a brush! I guess it just has to run its course.

108G btw

Just new...I actually like the green with pink(eventually) on the rocks. To me it looks more natural than just pink or purple.

Try adding Tech I . Looks like your Iodine level is low

I’m a bit perplexed here. How does a tank “look” like it needs iodine?

99% of reefers don’t even test for iodine.

I would never recommend adding anything unless you have tested and know you need it.
